It’s kind of dammed if you do, damned if you don’t though.

The Cavs win games against GSW when they use their size / rebounding advantage to create extra possessions. Our formula for winning is offensive rebounds and a low turnover total.

Maybe Love isn’t the best person to try to fill that role but we have to try to negate transition through rebounding pressure IMO because our defense just isn’t good enough. If we were a better defensive team, I would agree he should just get back but crashing for offensive rebounds can either get you the ball back or the pressure can at least make the outlet pass a split second slower, allowing the other 4 players to get back.

A bigger problem is just how disorganized we are defending in scrambling situations. You can tell we don’t practice these concepts because every time we get in a situation where we need to fill lanes with defenders, we end up arguing with each other under the basket after someone has hit a wide open 3 or Dunk.
Feel like you're still going off what happened in 2016 as we have been brutally exploited chasing offensive boards ever since Durant joined. It's no longer Bogut grabbing rebounds remember. Try and rewatch today's game or our 2017 finals games if you have time to see just how much we exposed ourselves.

We arent damned if we don't. Crashing the offensive boards isn't profitable if you grab the board 10% of the time and expose yourself in transition the other 90%. It also doesn't slow down the outlet pass, like at all, as the offensive rebounder usually ends up in a bad position to be a nuisance. Remember Love especially starts out at the 3 and has to make a small sprint dash to chase the rebound. When he misses he's completely under the he basket

Edit: we got the most punished in 2017 finals because we thought it would be a good idea to have both TT and Love crash the offensive boards. It worked against EC teams but failed miserably against GS

There’s no excuse at all for him to be tired by the 4th qtr with the limited minutes he plays.

To be fair, Love did have a modeling shoot on Monday morning so I'm not surprised he was winded by the fourth quarter... all that posing and preening can wear a guy out!

Totally agree on the Offensive rebounding. The other thing is if you don't hit most of your shots, you can't win. Work harder to get good shot opportunities instead of off rebounding.

One thing I have noticed about GS is that they are much netter than when they got beat at moving while the ball is in the air. Everyone on the team does it and it is why their small size has not hurt their rebounding. Do not stand there. Move and get a body on a guy or move towards the ball.

Absolutely agree on the loose ball thing. It is obvious they practice loos ball situations. they know exactly what to do while our guys are running all over.

At what point does the change in his game since IT returned become a greater issue. Too many other things grabbing that focus but is this becoming a problem?

He was having a tremendously efficient scoring year, mixing it up inside and out, but it now it appears he is back in that earlier(3rd option) role, spotting up for 3's and going long spells with minimal involvement.

Not sure it's IT singularly, but more so the bad vibe going around the whole team, the "agendas," and what-have-you (*cough* LeBron *cough*). Kev and Isaiah were friends growing up, and Isaiah is not playing in any way that would make Love considerably worse. Instead, whenever the team is having issues, Love tends to get passive and hide in corners. He's not very vocal, but you can tell from the body language and lack of effort that he's not happy, and not playing his best. I wish he would just say screw it and be more aggressive regardless, but this has always been Love's tendency. He gets introverted and lethargic when pressure and drama hits.

There was always going to be a feeling out period when they were all trying to find their niche. No fun for IT for it to happen during what feels like a meltdown.

Pity he clanged that dunk attempt late on, the type of aggressive move at a key time that you always want to see from the guy.

If Lue wants to get Love more shots, get the man more shots. You can say whatever you want but if the changes aren't actioned, that's on you.

It may be just me, but it seems like he plays the least 4th quarter minutes of all of our starters so it will be pretty hard to get him shots

Currently, yes. But LeBron was the only one regularly getting Love involved before IT. He's the only one I trust not to forget Love. I hope IT can find ways to utilize Love too. Love's inability to be a good roll guy hurts him. LeBron is much more dangerous as the screener, especially during offensive lulls.

What happened...just got in.

Looked at box score and saw Love played only 3 minutes.....didn't see any mention about injury. Did he get benched?

Reportedly got sick. Flu is going around, but some here think he's faking it because of all the struggles of the team.
