I agreed with pretty much everything he wrote. Where's the problem?

"Never made the playoffs" is a bit misleading if technically accurate, because he got one season that would make it regularly in the East, with no other [sorry, Ricky Rubio] real stars to speak of.

I guess I can see the "armchair psychologist" gripe alluded to in one of the comments there, that also seems to be implied by TitleTown's post.

His style and delivery are the problem. Yes, the facts are correct and I mostly agree with what he says.

But he sounds arrogant and self-important. He could have written the same article without it being some letter/proclamation to Love.

You don't like the format of a letter. Okay, it's a stylistic choice to break up straightforward op eds. Everyone gets to have an opinion on format.

As for the content, take a moment to read RCF. Lots of opinions on how professional athletes could improve or maximize their talents. That's just talking sports IMO.

I'm not sure any of that addresses my rather short and simple point: Terry sounded kinda pompous in that article. That is all.

Did you think so? If not, cool. If so, then...also cool? lol

Have to disagree with you on this one. I did not think he sounded pompous, but Terry is one of my favorite in CLE so I may be biased.

Kevin is going to score a lot. He gets very hot with touches. Definitely not LeBron efficient, but he can get scorching. I'm guessing rebounds will be similar but slightly be fewer minutes in faster tempo.

Just change the names in this post and this whole board is going to need a cigarette

I agree with the overall sentiments of the article. Love does not necessarily need to try to be a dominant scorer again. He needs to be a leader but it does not have to be in a stat accumulating way. Part of his job now, perhaps the key part is his contribution to the development of players, letting them breathe, moving the ball, teaching them through example that searching for the best shot, being patient and trusting each other at both ends can be the key factor in winning games.

We overrate stats.

Well, the team will definitely need him to score 25+ a night to stay competitive. Who else will be that kind of scorer? Zizic can only do so much.

He can get really hot and has, but he’s also always had two elite players, i.e., James and Rubio, get him the ball in the right places. WOWY ON/OFF stats only go back to the 2014/2015 season. From NBA.com and BKREF lineup data, Love seems to be part of some good offense when Rubiomwas on court.

Love’s efficiency and three point shooting fell off of a cliff when LeBron was off court EVEN THOUGH Love’s 2point % was slightly higher. Love shot threes at a lower rate, but also the number of open and wide open threes he took a nosedive with James off court. I also included numbers with Kyrie on court and James off court and those numbers are ugly as hell.

Kevin Love WITH LeBron James on court:

6,327 minutes played, 45.8% on twos, 40% on threes (shot a three once every 10 possessions), 52.7% eFG, 57.6% TS, 1.17 points per possession.

Team ORtg, 117
Team DRtg, 108
NET: +9 per 100 possessions, equivalent to a 66-70 win team, and higher than the Shaq/Kobe combo.

Kevin Love WITHOUT LeBron James on court:

1,186 minutes played, 46.2% on twos, 31.4% on threes (shot a three once every 12.5 possessions), 46.6% eFG, 53.8% TS, 1.09 points per possession.

Team ORtg, 106
Team DRtg, 109
NET: -3 100 possessions, equivalent to a 30 win team.

Kevin Love WITHOUT LeBron James on court but WITH Kyrie

533 minutes played, 42.1% on twos, 29.7% on threes (shot a three once every 13 possessions), 42.9% eFG, 50.6% TS, 1.02 points per possession.

Team ORtg, 108
Team DRtg, 110.6
NET: -4.4 per 100 possessions, equivalent to a 20-25 win team.
