Let's explore this..

Meyers Leonard is a 7'1" knock down 3-point shooter. Went off for 25 points in the first half of game 4 WCF. He doesn't play much defense however, and only has a year left on his deal- $11.3 mil. It would be nice to replace the shooting of Love and Frye with him.

Jusuf Nurkic is the guy I want the most: 24-years-old, great defender, and a terrific passer. He's awesome in the pick and roll, and would look good on the court with Garland and Sexton. He has long-term starter potential, sort of a similar mold to Steven Adams. He has 3 years left on his deal around $13 mil. Might not be a great fit in Beilein's system since he doesn't have much range on his jumper, especially with our current crop of bigmen, but he's be the best player we could get back for Love from POR. He sustained compound fractures to his left tibia and fibula in March, and I'm not sure what the timetable for his return is. It's something to think about, considering he is a massive human, and lower body injuries to 7-footers aren't good.

Zach Collins showed decent upside, but I prefer either of the other two bigs in a return for Love. His game just doesn't excite me much. Perhaps this is the guy we'd target though, who knows.

I'd want Nurk and Leonard both, but we'd have to clear some roster spots to do it. Nurk evaporates Thompson's value, and Leonard would eat up a lot of the remaining minutes for Nance, Zizic, and Henson.

The bigger the trade with Portland, the more it might make sense from a roster-shaping perspective. But generally trades with a lot of moving parts fall apart. Anyway, here's an example of the framework:
CLE out: Kevin Love, Jordan Clarkson, Ante Zizic
POR out: Jusuf Nurkic, Meyers Leonard, Mo Harkless, Anfernee Simons, future 1st

Something tells me Portland would reject this, even without the draft pick. I don't think Love is the answer for them, and I know they're high on Nurk. But there is pressure for them to add a legit third star, and maybe they take a chance. If I'm the Cavs, I'm not even sure I'd do this trade. But show me a different framework with POR that makes sense.
Nurkic has more value than Kevin Love.

Never going to happen. Nurkic broke his leg and is highly regarded by Blazers.

If that's true, I don't think there's any chance we can make a deal with Portland.
It is true. Nurkic has established himself as one of the best young 5's in the NBA--a fringe All-Star already at 24.

If he wasn't injured last season, they had a chance.

Now that Turner has been dealt, any deal with Portland would likely include both Leonard and Harkless, along with Zach Collins and a pick. This complicates things with roster spots.

He's signed for multiple years on a great deal, is 24, tough defender, good rebounder, good passer, and a developing offensive game. Unless his injury causes a significant problem he has pretty high value.

I think the only chance to get Nurkic would be by including JR and taking back some bad money from Portland, which if you can get Nurkic and Leonard in the process would be fine.

I wouldn't want Nurkic. I'd take Collins and Leonard though. After the Evan Turner trade I thought a Love to POR deal would be dead but I think I would do Love+Zizic for Collins+Leonard+Harkless+Picks.

Next thing I would do is move TT. He's got to go. Then our bigs rotation would be set with Nance Jr, Collins, Henson, Leonard. That's 4 guys with length who can all step out to 15 feet and to the 3 point line. They're young and they can play up and down. There's some shot blocking there too. I think I'd be fine with that. I just have a feeling that we're not that high on Zizic. He could be useful in POR though. Harkless would be a solid 3&D wing too.

If you guys are gonna crush my Nurkic dream like that, at least tell me there's hope for a Steven Adams trade?

I don't see Zach Collins as a building block, more as a fine fourth big. Plus, draft picks from Portland aren't all that exciting. I see a lot of "four quarters for a dollar" scenarios with Portland.

Somebody want to make the case for Collins? I haven't seen a ton of him, just some foggy memories of a couple playoff games and a quick peak at his numbers.
Collins can block shots, run the floor like a guard, and step out and knock down the three. He’s young—bigs develop slower than guards, they always have due to the required physicality.

He is a modern NBA 5 who plays on both ends of the floor.

As you’ve stated, he’s been trapped behind Nurkic and Leonard at the 5–as well as Kanter—but that’s where he considers himself to fit best. I love that about him; he can get chippy and enjoys what comes with the modern NBA pivot.

Watch his exit interview with Portland from a few weeks ago—he’s committed to getting bigger this offseason.

I think in starter minutes, he’s a 13 points, 8 boards, 1.5-2 blocks per game guy as soon as next season.

He’d also be a great fit with Nance defensively—if Nance is at the four—as their length and athleticism would go a long way covering for our small guards.

With Nurkic out, you better grab him now or you’ll never get the chance. He’s ready to make the leap and you’d better believe a player like him is fully intent on taking advantage of this opportunity.

Collins has potential to be a 2-way player at the 5. That's an extremely valuable asset in the NBA today. He's very mobile. He has some decent low post moves. Active on the defensive end. he can step out to the 3 point line with confidence. He needs to work on his body but he could end up being every bit as good as Vucci Mane is in ORL. That's a valuable asset.

I would be interested in a package surrounded around Nassir Little and Gary Trent Jr for Love.
Those are two interesting young players, but Portland would have to send some contracts, like Harkless & Leonard, back our way to make the deal work under the cap.

I keep going back to New Orleans as a potential landing spot for KLove.

There were rumors that we discussed it on draft day, but Griff turned his focus to the Atlanta deal for the #4 pick.

I've heard Beilein say a few times already that his system has 2 guards, 2 forwards and a "big" center, which could be Jaxson Hayes who we were rumored to be interested in if we traded down.

They could also provide the cap relief allowing us to deal JR for another asset.
That Pelicans roster, aside from Jrue Holiday, is super young now. I tend to doubt that David Griffin would be willing to take on a soon to be 31-year-old power forward, who is making $30 million per year for the next 4 years. Now when he knows that Ingram and Ball will be eligible for contract extensions soon.

Right on..
I won't claim to be an expert on Zach Collins, so if you guys think he's worth it in a Kevin Love deal, that's comforting to know. Makes me like Los216's proposal a little more.

I wanted that imaginary deal with NOLA for the 4th pick badly. Ahh, oh well.
He isn’t worth Kevin love. My in laws live in Portland, and I told my brother in law about the posts yesterday of “collins, a bad contract, and a first” for Love. He laughed and ask where he can sign up and that it was ridiculous to ask for so little in return.

Collins is literally in a fight for 3rd/4th best big on the blazers. To consider him the key piece in a love trade is assinine

I would be totally fine with a trade centered around Collins, Harkless and picks.

I think Loves best fit is with the Thunder. Somehow work a 3 team trade with Love going to the Thunder, Adams going to a 3rd team and picks/young players to the Cavs.

Thunder - Love
Pelicans - Adams
Cavs - Hayes/picks/salaries to match
