He's been and is being challenged by coaches, he also has some very quick hands to go along with very good athleticism and size for his position. This is still an effort issue.

Kyrie had a great game, most importantly he seemed to power the comeback by scrapping on defense and on the offensive glass. If this is the kind of game mike brown can get out of him then he just needs to get another 4 guys to do the same and the team will be on the right track

Kyrie played the way he should today. He is a scorer. He shouldn't be standing up top with the ball. Let it move and get it where he can take a guy off the dribble or take an open shot. If Bennett develops and we get an NBA caliber 3 that can shoot we will be ok.

The Cavs offense overall has improved a lot in December. We're averaging 103.2 points per 100 possessions compared to 93.9 in November. The only problem is that our defense has slipped slightly and we've dropped some close games. I think there's still reason to be optimistic, though, especially if we can swing a trade to bring in an SF soon.

Since the 0-pt game in Atlanta, Kyrie has averaged 27.8ppg, 6.5apg on 50.2/41.3/92.3 shooting in only 34 minutes per game. That's like Kobe-esque scoring on Nash-esque efficiency. I've said before that Kyrie might be the first person ever to average 30ppg on 50/40/90 shooting, and I still think he can do it. Per 36 minutes, he's already at 29.4ppg. Give him the extra few minutes and a fresh shtart next season, and he could do it next year.

On top of this, Kyrie did this without any teammates really doing him any favors. Bynum killed offensive flow, and the floor spacing has been pretty horrendous, making scoring harder on Kyrie. Not to mention that he is still being assisted at an insanely low rate.

I know we're all concerned about Kyrie not being able to convert into being a floor general, but let's face it. This guy is FAR too talented to not allow him to have the most shots on this team so long as it's not done at the detriment to the offensive flow of the team and selfishly. There are few players in the NBA who would usurp Kyrie as the #1 option on this team should they be a Cavalier by whatever means. Other than LeBron and Durant, I can't really think of any.

It's a good thing that we have another player who can pass instead of completely relying on Kyrie to do nearly all of the scoring and facilitating in Dion because ball movement would be a lot worse without him. I hope we keep these two together for a long time.

Two things that Kyrie needs to start doing are defending better and rebounding more like he used to. Throw in a couple more assists per game and take on the leadership role, and you have yourselves the future MVP.

It still blows my mind thinking about how talented this guy is. Get excited because once we surround him with a more complementing team, we're going to be a huge threat to everyone else.

Its not about how many shots he takes. heck i wouldnt care if he took every shot in the game if he found a way not to force the ball for multiple possessions and set a selfish tone for the rest of the lineup.

Last few games he seems to be showing more restraint, the problem is his team mates have been a little dependant on giving it to him. There was an excruciating play yesterday where zeller tried to give it back to kyrie with 3 guys on him instead of shoot the open 15 footer.

I have hope that over the year he will continue to grow as a leader and defender.

He's definitely been playing better as of late and seems to have got something back he was missing. Saying that, our D hasn't been as good, and we're not finishing games. So I'm not sure what it's worth.

A couple of short stretches of "selfish" kyrie in the 2nd and 3rd quarter keeps the game close enough that our 4th quarter comeback wins the game. When you are a player the caliber of Kyrie picking the right spots to take over a game when your team needs it can be a good thing.

His PER over that stretch is 27.0. His TS% for those games is .597. He also won an NBA player of the week award. Only 2 players in the league have averaged more points in their last 10 games.

Where did you find out his PER? I literally calculated those stats by hand. I'd like to know where to find players' averages over certain stretches of games . . . unless it's on basketball reference and I'm just using it wrong, which is completely possible. :chuckles:

But at any rate, that's amazing. That's the kind of PER I think he could run for a whole year, creeping closer to 30 if he were to start rebounding, defending, and passing better. If you get a PER of 27 or above for a season, you're a superstar.
