Kyrie isn't good enough to be untouchable.

I get what you are saying - but there are only a select few players who we can trade Kyrie for like Kevin Durant or WestBrook and i dont see them coming here. Butler for Kyrie I dont think is a huge upgrade. What we make up for in defense, we lose in offense.

Untouchable is relative as anybody can be had for a package. LeBron came back to Cleveland to play with Kyrie and he practically gushed about him even talking about how his kids were such big fans of his game. People talk about Kyrie being a 2nd option like its the end of the world. In the modern game, you need 2-3 great players in order to have success.

I have questions on whether or not PG or Butler are even first options? It's debatable for PG (surprisingly low ppg for his height/skill/athleticism) but IMO Butler is 2/3 option at best. The rest of a teams roster is then designed to mitigate the main players weaknesses. Our team has a bunch of shooters which is usual for any LeBron led team. Kyrie probably needs a different approach (SG that can defend PG at an elite level and a shot blocking big) plus a coach that has a system that emphasize ball movement. However this is LeBron's team and Kyrie is there to help shoulder the load on offense. I think he made strides this year on doing the little things on offense and its only a matter of time before he is forced to improve on the defensive end, be that maturity or incentive (All-NBA team = additional 70 million

Kyrie for Butler made sense if we were going all in on this one year. Butlers better. Gives us one of the best in the word to guard Durant or Curry.

It would seem to me we might actually be thinking rationally though and aren't going all in for next year. Which woild be the smarter play.

Kyrie isn't good enough to be untouchable.

Averages 30 points against the best team in the league on the biggest stage, also widely considered the best defense in the league, with great efficiency and high percentage shooting.

Kyrie and LeBron are the only two guys in the league that can do that against the Warriors consistently in a 7 game series, he is the definition of untouchable, you have to build around those two.

If only he would pass or play defense consistently. I love his scoring, and there are stretches where he gets other guys involved, but not during the playoffs. It would be nice if he (and the rest of the team) would get their D in order all year long. If he was doing those things regularly, then yes, he would be untouchable. As it is, I would easily trade him for PG.

The question is does it improve our chances of beating GSW, if it does then you pull the trade. Two players I would trade Kyrie for who would IMO improve our chances against the Warriors: AD and Kawhi. Not saying Kyrie is better than Harden or Russ or The Greek Freak.

Everybody else either doesn't move the needle enough or are extremely inefficient against THAT team. I don't care about stats they aggregate against lottery teams during the regular season. Even if you trade Kyrie for PG, that means you've got Love who does not match up well against the Warriors, which means you still lose. Maybe you trade Love for Millsap, If you decide to trade Kyrie for PG.

Shump for Rubio

Rubio/Rondo
JR
PG
LeBron
Millsap

Spacing wouldn't be ideal for LeBron but this team provides elite level defense (except for JR lol) that would mirror GSW.

Out of curiosity how would this team do against the Warriors if you swapped Kyrie for Wall?

Wall
JR
LeBron
Love
TT

It amazes me that trading Kyrie is even being discussed. He is not even in his prime yet. He has the best ball handling skills in the NBA. He could have become a free agent and bolted like everyone else does. He hit the shot that brought this city its first Championship since 1964. And some of you want to trade him......wow, just fucking wow.

For the record, I am not advocating we trade him either, just wondering why people think trading him for another player, who would have no loyalty to Cleveland after LeBron leaves/retires is a good thing (I mentioned Kawhi/AD but that was hypothetical)

Sports fans can be so fickle, people want to trade the guy who helped them win the only championship in their town in 52 years, then complain about KD leaving to join the Warriors.

Kyrie Irving: The sacred cow.

In a world where a better player was just traded; Kyrie is somehow untradable.

I wouldn't trade Kyrie for no one. You could give us Kawhi, I wouldn't take it. We need to be loyal to him and expect the same from him, he won us our first ring. Untradeable as fuck

A better player was traded by a team thats looking to rebuild. Not a team coming off 3 straight Finals appearances. Yea lets break up the team thats won the East 3 straight years and won a Title. Makes perfect sense to me..... LOL

There's probably a handful of playing in the NBA that are truly untouchable. Teams throw out untouchable too often.

Untouchable, usually means very, very unlikely.

But if the Spurs called tomorrow. Offered Leonard for Kyrie, and of course LB was fine with it (I get it, we aren't signing off on anything without his approval), then Kyrie would be gone.

The chances of that are almost zero. So, sure, he's not going anywhere.

He's not going anywhere because nobody better is available. If Anthony Davis tomorrow says he doesn't want to play for the pelicans anymore i'm dangling Kyrie.
