LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Lakers can have all of our coaches as far as I'm concerned...it will make them worse and us better.

I don’t disagree.

But optically it looks bad for all parties concerned. Are we their minor league team? Why are we helping competition?

From Lakers perspective, what can Lue actually contribute? Dude sucked as HC and is largely responsible for our terrible regular seasons and brutal post-season rotations. He lost LeBron after 4 years when he was supposed to retire here.

So, good luck on that meeting Lucas Walton.....

Lmao so this means the Lakers staff values lue's intellect?!?!

They're doomed

The NBA is eventually going to have to face this problem (re: "treating the smaller teams as minor league organizations")

There's clearly a scarcity of talent and several "tiers" of players available.

In theory? Players on the top tier...The LeBron's, The Durant's (-cough- eunuch -cough-), The Curry's should be getting an absurd amount of money for their talent and it should be next to impossible for a team to sign them away for below their value.

There's probably at any given time in the league? 4, 5 players that you can point as an MVP Candidate or a player that can lead you to a Finals/Title.

You have to make it some sort of a fair "fight" between smaller and larger markets while at the same time? Ensuring that players are fairly paid for their services.

I agree and it certainly looks that way...especially after we, you know, helped them clear the cap space to sign LeBron in the first place :bad:

Golden State did it the right way. Hired Mike Brown as their main assistant coach who knew Lebron more than anyone. To beat us.

If this dinner story is true id fire Lue this second. Its like going to a competing business and telling them all your company's secrets. Fuck you and go home.

It's like college sports in that the anwer is insanely simple. Everyone just makes it more complicated than it needs to be.

There should be a collectively bargained threshold for players, that when they meet a certain criteria with (1) team (for my example lets call it 3 years), they become eligible for what I'd call the "max market value" contract. The team that holds the "max market value" rights, would have the right to offer said player, ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY PER YEAR AS THEY DEEMED FIT. The max amount of that contract per year, that would count against the salary cap, would be 30% of the salary cap.

So in theory, take LeBron for example, Dan Gilbert could've offered him $300M over 3 years, or $100M per year to stay in CLE. But LeBron only would've counted for 30% of the luxury cap.

So then LeBron is forced to decide between $30M per year in LA, or leaving $70M on the table per year, over the next 3 years.

It's honestly really simple, and very fair in theory. Teams essentially have the right to keep or let a player walk. If a player is that integral to the team......pony up. Or watch them walk and try and hit their next big payday, 3 years after they've arrived at the new club.

Speaking of college sports though......the NCAA doesn't have to pay college athletes a dime other than academic scholarships. Just let the market dictate their worth. Players should be allowed to do commercials, do autograph signings, take endorsement deals, etc. At the end of the day, it protects the NCAA from having to pay the 3rd string place-holder, or pay athletes in non-revenue generating sports, and it allows the true money makers to go and make some well deserved money without truly harming the college product. Again, this shit isn't hard. Not sure why smarter people than I, cant figure this stuff out.

There are several reasons we lost to Golden State, but I can assure you that Mike Brown "knowing" LeBron isn't one of them. Get serious.

I think as well it should carry a "tag" so to speak.

Like LeBron can leave to LA, Miami, where ever he would please, but there would be some sort of compensation if he did.

I'm unsure what the value would be in that scenario but perhaps draft picks to be used as assets in the future? Something like that.

Sadly this is a near impossible thing to do. LeBron is not...a starting cornerback that you can in theory...perhaps find in next year's draft. But there has to be some sort of way that doesn't result in a small market team left holding it's a dick.

Saw this and couldn't stop laughing. the 3-6 tag especially had me LMMFAO.
BUT COMIC SANS
BUT BURNING JERSEYS

did the same thing in Miami when he left. And he actually won over there.

LeBron will publicly Cuban B that whole thing but I'm laughing. That franchise's current fans will forever worship Kobe. He stayed, he won, one more than Shaq, who left. It's that simple.

Listening to the 92.3 the fan "Cavs round table". With Jason Lloyd, Dave McMennin, Joe Vardon

-Apparently Kyrie signed his deal with LeBron having no impact
-LeBron and Dan "Had no relationship". They just "existed".
-Dan built a team that is capable of winning a championship
-LeBron sold Dan way short, and Dan sold LeBron way short.
-Dan was trying to avoid the "death march" of 2010.

All of this here, I believe.
Remembering the tweets Kyrie put out when he signed his deal, he was very excited to start anew with Blatt. That Mike Brown season was the most TRASH out of all the pre-LeBron Kyrie years.

LeBron came back and that threw ALL of that out the window. Some would say for the better (after all, it got the Cavs a championship).

As for Kyrie "hating" LeBron, that's kind of a sice, a half-truth at best.

LeBron always wanting to play for the Lakers.... a sice, as well. I guess, but I really don't think LeBron cares WHICH team he plays for, as long it's marquee or gets him the most attention (and most importantly, has room to maneuver toward his whims). If the Bulls had life after Jordan, it'd be over there. he made Miami "marquee". He came back to Cleveland because the stars aligned for his agenda of winning championships and shuffling the deck.

Depending on what side you fall on "who you like better", the reaction will be colored that way.

Me? I've never bought into the "let's all hate Kyrie" hype. I don't like him forcing his way out of town, but at the same time I believe LeBron DID have knowledge of that Phoenix/Pacer trade and would have approved it. And finding that out may have been the final straw for Kyrie. LeBron covered that up in that ESPN interview. Covered that before.

As for LeBron, definitely believe that there was no relationship. I don't think he typically has one with the team owners, whether it be CLE, MIA, and now LAL. Just how he operates.

I'm less mad about the trade now since Sexton, while not Kyrie, looks like he won't suck. And other guys not played much last season (Zizic, Cedi) are in the same boat.

Most of this was a kind of confirmation for me. 2016 is even more a miracle in retrospect.

Does anyone think the Lakers team as it is right now is a lock to even move to the second round of the playoffs ?

They seem like a first round and done team. Heck on hind sight, knowing the Cousins situation, We could have easily offered him more money and give him half the season off to rehab and if he even come close to being as good as he was with the Pelicans - LeBron+Cousins+Love is a guaranteed repeat to the East title.

I really really want to find out what vision Magic sold to LeBron.

I mean, "it's LeBron" so... maybe?

but then again, it's NOT the East. the teams that just missed the playoffs in the West last season would be strong East teams. Though I don't think except maybe last year's Houston, with a healthy CP3, that the other teams in the West that aren't Golden Piss were as good as a fully-stocked Boston.

Again, the "LOL" factor is that Lakers fans expecting the "LeFuckYou 3 Experience" we got last season are going to be sorely disappointed.

LeBron with players I would have adored on last year's Cavs (Rondo, in particular) but not so much as a "Kevin Love" caliber player on the roster in the WEST?

might be a silver lining that the fingers pointed laughing will be at the ESPN types who wanted LeBron over there so bad but he stays locked at 3-6 because Golden Piss.

For the people on Twitter trying to damage control and compare Cleveland fan (since I've only seen the one video since July 2010 and saw plenty of people with old jerseys when he came back) burning jerseys to someone spray painting a mural I don't think they're comparable. While I think the act of burning jerseys is silly, it's still something people paid their own money for. Vandalizing a mural someone spent time and effort to paint is just flat out disrespectful and yes someone in Miami did something similar when he left there in 2014.

I actually believe that the NBA would prefer the that the STARS play in the big market teams. Silver, Stern, LeBron and many others have been quoted as saying that the league is best when big market teams are doing well.

So I personally don't expect this to change.

But yes, a Franchise Tag system like the NFL would do wonders for Small Market teams. But it wont change.

Just announced today....but in the last month:

LeBron and Channing Tatum have signed a movie production deal to launch “Public Enemy”...an action comedy.

LeBron also got a movie company to buy his re-launch of “House Party” (separate from the Channing Tatum deal).

LeBron has also signed a deal with the documentary filmographer of “Supersize” to do a documentary on Akron, OH.

All finalized in the last 30 days.

Honestly, I’m not sure the Lakers will be happy with the next 3 years. If he’s already focusing this heavily on his production companies and his eye isn’t on basketball full time, that decline could hit swiftly. Will be interesting to watch how it plays out. If the Lakers aren’t playing well, he’s going to get crushed by the LA fan base for not being “all in”. Some media members are already calling this the “retirement tour”.

Yeah I'm sure the Lakers are super pissed about landing the best basketball player in the world. LeBron is doing a documentary? That's where they should draw the line. Inexcusable.
