LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
People belive he came back to Cleveland cause of some hometown bull shit too. When I’m realty Irving was an all star and love was would be coming as well and wade was finished

I definitely feel like it was a QUITE convenient alignment of the stars. One for which I'm grateful but .... yeah. I did NOT expect 2014 to happen. I was awash in glee with the Heat being washed by the Spurs, and the He-At Fans having to hold that L

Indeed. This was definitely done to build "a team" in LA. Only... who knows if that works. We probably won't know until the offseason.

Problem is all these young guys can just get together the way Bron/Wade/Bosh got together in the primes, instead of joining a legend in LA who was once Kobe and is now LeBron. I've seen him deferring a ton this recently (maybe he's not all the way back from the groin injury?) and it could be LeBron's way of signaling that he's ready to pass the mantle but the "toxic" environment that KD was referring to will always be there.

What a twist it would be if the Clippers build a super team that becomes the new GSW and they have enough assets and cap space to make that happen. Meanwhile LeBron is stuck in purple and gold while Clippers banners are being put up in the Staple center. Lakers fans already proposing trades involving LeBron...yikes.

Lebron is known as team first guy and he treats team as a family and is specifically taking guys to dinner a lot and all that stuff. i am really wondering how the guys on the Lakers feel about that after all the leaked offers. It makes it ring hollow the way some of James actions did after he left again. It's interesting for sure. you need trust on a team and he may have undermined the trust they built already.

Pretty much anything James has ever done for a teammate or told a teammate has ended up being hollow. He has even screwed over his basketball BFF Dwayne Wade a couple times. LeBron cares about LeBron at the end of the day. Every move he makes or thing he says is only aimed at helping his own cause, whatever it is at the time.

As the examples of this mount up, new teammates have to be at least a little aware of that. Maybe it's why LeBron has difficulty getting players to flock to play with him.

I don't think it helps.

How he was able to maintain a relationship with guys he CLEARLY wanted out of town is always impressive to me. The fact that he's congratulating IT makes it seem like they're best friends when he practically mailed it in for a good stretch after IT came back was odd. Crowder looked like he wanted to be anywhere in the world besides Cleveland and he played like it, yet he's cool with LeBron. The Wade thing was odd because he couldn't convince his best friend who still had something left in the tank to stick around instead of going back to a mediocre Heat team. That mythical 2nd rounder in 2022 (if we even have it) was really helpful in the 2018 playoffs.

This is the toxic environment that KD was referring to was a direct shot at LeBron. KD and Dray seem to take shots at him throughout the years and LeBron looks the other way drafting KD every chance he gets in All-Star games while conducting a media partnership with Dray and shooting the s*** during the summer at the barbershop...I don't get it but I'm not a master manipulator or have a team around me. It'll be the most interesting summer for him because AD ending up in Boston or Kyrie/KD going to New York effectively closes his championship window.

I'm definitely thinking another "Miami Heat" is coming. LeBron is really gonna Wizards Jordan his way out over there... hmm.

Zach Lowe calling out Lebron's chill mode:

3. LeBron, in chill mode

This is a thing, again:

[click on above link for video of Lebron loafing around on offense]

LeBron gives the ball up and watches, statuesque, even though he has Boban freaking Marjanovic on him. This is Chill Mode Offense.

LeBron can do this on 20 possessions and still notch triple-doubles. A lot of his workload metrics -- speed and distance covered, drives, pick-and-roll volume, free throws -- are consistent with the past few seasons. He is recovering from his first extended injury absence.

He has reached an age where he needs to conserve energy. He ceded large chunks of the offense against Indiana in last season's first round until Game 7. Perhaps this is the price of getting full-throttle LeBron when it matters.

But his shots in the restricted area are down, and he's taking more super-long 3s. He is posting up about 2.9 times per 100 possessions, half his typical rate, per Second Spectrum. He was a more engaged off-ball player in Miami and during the early years of his second Cleveland stint. He did not retreat so often toward half court, blowing on his hands, as possessions wound away.

It has been hard for the Lakers to develop a stylistic identity with LeBron toggling between passivity and chess-master control. Close your eyes and picture a Lakers half-court set. What do you see?

Bystander LeBron has contributed to the vibe that he exists outside the current roster. (The public Davis drama amplified that vibe.) It also brings out the worst in Brandon Ingram. You almost see Ingram and the other Lakers look around before they all agree LeBron is out of the play, and that they must proceed accordingly. If Ingram has the ball and no one sets a prompt screen, he might laze into a fadeaway jumper.

LeBron's previous teams could afford heavy doses of dialed-back Bron. They played in the East. The Lakers play in the West.

idk LBJ should of stayed here. He could of gave the team a break on his salary to better be able to add what we needed. Look at the mess the Lakers look like, at least for now. He could of just relocated his beloved LA hair transplant doctor here.

LeBron screwed himself by never committing to the Cavs long term. What’s great about him committing to the Lakers long term is that he’ll never win there. It’s karma at its finest. He held the Cavs hostage for years, and now he’s paying for it. As a Cavs fan, he can go fuck himself for how he treated this team, and the city I love.

Agreed. I think a lot of the younger guys or other superstars like Durant (remember his comment about playing with LeBron this year?) know that he’s a piece of work, and don’t want to team up with him.

The Hawks and Pacers have been LOL-bait with their fans chanting during free throws.
Hopefully this wakes LeBron up, since I still like him as a basketball player and want to see him do well

But yeah... no sympathy for those who wanted LeBron in a "MaJoR mArKeT" and out of Cleveland.
And especially not for those He-At fans who are like "but we like Cleveland better" now that they have to deal with Lakers fandom/entitlement

I'm on the fence with LeBron himself. I don't like that he straight up signed a 4-year deal there, still.
The East has gotten more entertaining with him gone, for sure. But that sucks that the Lakers get the benefit of "not worrying about LeBron leaving".
I think LeBron has shown all his cards at this point in his career and played his most risky hand yet by going to the Lakers. I’m not sure how many more aces he can pull out of his sleeve.

Had he stayed in Cleveland, he would have had many more hands he could have played with the same cards with a higher probability of winning some chips.

Annndd I’m out of poker references...
