Players should be happy at least, they won't have to practice anymore.
Well at least LeBron won’t have to practice and whoever else he decides is cool enough. Didn’t Ty Lue have a panic attack and have to sit out games in CLE? The LA situation seems like it will be more tense/stressful, and I thought it was 100% impossible to top the drama in CLE. I think it’s a lose/lose situation for LA though because I don’t see them making it to even the western conference finals next year unless they can get two all star FA to join (via signing or trade or whatever means) and I don’t see that happening. Maybe an all star and a specialist or two at best, and I don’t think that’s enough for LBJ to take to the WCF (At least in year 1). Soo basically we could be having similar conversations and drama next year for the LAL. This isn’t news but the Lakers really shit the bed this year with how low they set the bar for Lebron, their ceiling next year just feels like a decent playoff run at best.Players should be happy at least, they won't have to practice anymore.

Watching Dirk's retirement last night, part of me was sad because Lebron could have had that kind of love and rootedness in a city, but he threw it away by leaving for LA in pursuit of god knows what. It really tarnishes his career and makes him a more shallow figure than he could have been. His retirement ceremony is just going to be a corporate production from ESPN and Lebron, Inc. not a genuine expression of love from a city.
I'm late but this is a great point. We all know where Lebron Inc. is going to end up doing this ceremony. Back in the 216. By default.
I still think it's unlikely LAL misses again next year.
"Buh 4th seed" arguments aside, due to their weak schedule up to that point, they will replace their 1-year-contract meme team guys with solid FAs - even though I expect they will at least moderately underwhelm given that so many people who are looking through purple and gold sunglasses have been hoping for Kyrie, another crack at Unibrow via trade, Son of Showtime Klay, Coward, etc.
I think a jersey retirement is fair, but a statue would be a crock of shit.Agreed. The thing is, I don't want to celebrate LeBron's career.
Apparently Cleveland wasn't good enough for him on TWO separate occasions. Since this is the case, I'm not celebrating his career. I honestly don't know why people give a shit about this guy.
I celebrated our TEAM'S championship, which we wouldn't have won without him, I'll be the first to admit that. I just don't see the need to celebrate his career after the way he treated this team and city.

It wouldn't be. It would be as much for the Cavs as it would for LeBron. Hell, LeBron probably wouldn't really care. The best player in history of basketball played for your team. Why wouldn't you want to build a statue to always show the world that the GOAT was a Cleveland Cavalier?I think a jersey retirement is fair, but a statue would be a crock of shit.
How about a plack then?
