LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I know it's anathema on this board, but I'm too invested in LeBron's case as the GOAT to not want him to win in L.A. Getting to #4 while simultaneously being the 1st player to lead 3 franchises to titles and bringing the Lakers back to relevance will be the perfect 3rd stanza for his career, after everybody counted him out. And truthfully, the guy was screwed out of so many titles (2011 notwithstanding) that he deserves a little good luck.

Would obviously prefer it was Cleveland he was winning more rings for, and fuck the Lakers, but that would really help solidify his GOAT case. Ideally he'd then return to retire a Cav while being the final piece of a championship puzzle.

I don't know.
It's hard watching the guy play for the Lakers and it would be extra hard to see it if he got Kyrie over there.

I'm conflicted. I hold no animosity towards the guy, he gave me one of the greatest nights of my life. Got a title and did help put Cleveland on the sports map during his time here. I'll probably buy his jersey when he finally hangs it up or something.

I just don't...feel anything either way with him out there though. I would like to see this wrap up though because seeing him in a lakers jersey feels wrong.

Holy shit people, we got 3 1st picks in 4 years very recently. We are literally the last people who should be complaining about the NBA lottery. No, it's not rigged, they got lucky, it happens, get over it.

Not rigged but AD to la is clear cut tampering and shouldn’t be allowed.

Is it true that Unibrow can decline his trade kicker, and if so how does that play into this equation, timing-wise and otherwise?
Someone joked on twitter that he’s gonna decline the trade bonus and magically get a $4 million contract to be in Space Jam 2

Same. It's like... "Whatever, it's the Lakers" at this point. Not at all like the Heat situation

I'm here for the "Steph taking Ls to LeBron's Team for the forseeable future" part of it all.

I knew things would shake out the way they did when Pelicans got #1 and Lakers got #4. At this point, they should figure out how to get Chris Paul over there to make up for them not being able to get him at this point and close all those loops.

I feel the same way. And even that is deeper than it appears. I don't want him to be the GOAT just for the sake of being the GOAT - but I really dislike Michael Jordan as a person. If Kareem was considered the GOAT, I'd be cool with that.

I also don't like the Durant move and like you feel that he was screwed out of what should have been another title in Cleveland. The Cavs aren't competing for a while regardless, so I don't mind rooting for Lebron above the other guys, even if I'm still sad-mad that he left.

The whole AD thing sets a dangerous precedent in NBA. During the next CBA the owners need to come down hard a fuck on the players, shit is getting crazy. The NBA needs Franchise Tags, stronger collusion laws, and if players demand/request a trade they lose out on all guaranteed money for X amount of time or contract length. And finally no Management, Owners, or players should have ANY money involved in player representatives, agencies. I don't care if it's a loan or seed money it's a clear conflict of interest. This lets the players skate by the rules and circumvent the CBA ala Jay-Z and the cocksucking human POS Rich Paul and LBJ.

I have a hard time seeing how anyone who hated the KD move to GSW can root for LeBron in LA. It's the same thing. Stack the deck so you can guarantee yourself a championship, instead of building something that puts you in a position to do it. LeBron couldnt just move to LA and build upon what was there and add via free agency, he literally gutted the team through his agent to ensure that a top 5 player in this league forced his way off of his team to only ONE team in the league-LeBrons team. Meanwhile the Lakers are just as dysfunctional as Cleveland as a front office but because of their zip code, no one cares.

I'm grateful for the Cavs chip that he helped bring, but I honestly am looking forward to the future NBA minus his presence. Every offseasons its nothing but his decision, who hes bringing to town, where hes going etc. Its fucking Desperate Housewives every year. No one even cares about who wins the actual games or championship, like the Raptors. All because LeBron cant stand not dominating the narrative of the league every second of every day.

The KD move was no weaker than AD being gift wrapped to a franchise that did nothing right to get him other than being in LA. Fuck the Lakers.

Not really. Kareem did this two generations ago and even specified the exact same cities. Kyrie has done it. Other players forced trades at draft time.

No chance. The NBAPA and players would scream that the owners were trying to re-establish a "slaveowner" system with franchise tags. Players could easily have relatives or friends demand / request trades through the media -- good luck negotiating THAT our of the CBA.

And finally no Management, Owners, or players should have ANY money involved in player representatives, agencies. I don't care if it's a load or seed money it's a clear conflict of interest. This lets the players skate by the rules and circumvent the CBA ala Jay-Z and the cocksucking human POS Rich Paul and LBJ.

Players are not prevented from discussions among themselves at all so I don't see the point of prohibiting discussions with agents (and if they're lawyers those discussions are legally protected).

The only real way to stop this nonsense is action among the owners & commissioner -- i.e. confiscating draft picks, banning teams from trades if they are involved in collusion, giving the Commissioner authority to ban trades a la Bowie Kuhn ("Best Interests of Basketball"). That way teams are punished, not players (who may still have legal remedies -- remember baseball collusion was an issue in the 1980s). I'm not optimistic that will happen either.

I'm not happy the Lakers and friends have manipulated this either -- it's why they are #1, #2 and #3 on my hate list (sports hate to be clear). The GSW Durant Acquisition messed up the NBA for two years -- would have been three except for the injuries. This crap makes me sick. Unfortunately I don't see the NBA changing anything -- although this too shall pass.

To be honest LeBron's return (clear opportunism) made me somewhat uneasy because of the manipulation. I was ok with it -- rationalized that Cleveland deserved a break -- but it still was a bit shady. I think most sports fans were behind Cleveland and were happy we won, but KD and others can legitimately point to LeBron's multiple moves as an template.

I think the LA move PLUS the trade deadline was the last straw for a lot of people. I think many NBA fans are tired of the bullshit. You've got the top few players stacking the deck -- leaving the vast majority of franchises with little or no hope -- even those with good teams.

I suspect going forward LeBron will hear more boos on the road.

Perfect post. I couldnt have said it any better. The minute LA got that 4th pick that was all i needed to see. AD would be a Laker. The good thing is he will be 35 and the madness has to end soon. I refuse to watch Espn right now. They got what they wanted. Hell they have been begging and pleading for the Pels to trade Ad to the Lakers for nearly a year now. Like you said, Raptors dethrone GS, nobody even cares. Its almost early July, thats Lebron time. Been that way since 2010. The whole thing has soured me so much i dont even know if i can watch the Nba anymore. It is nothing like it was 20 years ago. Like you said, fuck the Lakers, and fuck AD to.

My guess if it happens it will be some Klutch BS that they take a lower percentage on his next contract. Basically LeBron since he is a stake holders, just doesn't get his Klutch payout from the AD's next contract and maybe some endorsement contracts down the line.

You make some great points. The whole Kareem thing happened WAY before my time and the little I've heard it mostly happened behind closed doors. Also correct me if I'm wrong but Kareem wanted to be in area that had more minorities and people of his faith hence LA? Kyrie is a fucken idiot and thinks the world is flat so I can't comment on his "woke" thinking. I for the players talking to each other that is inevitable but Jay-Z is a part owner of the Nets he also own Roc-Nation or whatever agency that woke faggot just sign with, That should be a big No-No. I think the NBAPA would be more receptive with The Franchise tag with a bigger slice of pie, what number I dunno that would have to be negotiated. But you don't think some greddy fucks like Chris Paul wouldn't sign off on this look at his absurd Super-Max he championed for basically old players like himself that will crippled teams going forward while almost all player eligible for it will be declining when they up for it. I agree the commish should take charge and fix this mess by raining hell and fire but Adam Silver is too much of pussy to do anything. If the NBA continues on this path it will go the way of MLB which is declining right before out eyes.
