So when you were a news reporter you were able to get injury information that wasn’t released by the team?

The team physicians aren’t talking to any reporters. Any physician who talked to the media without consent from the player is violating Federal Law and would be fired by the team.

I don’t care if you’re Woodward and Bernstein, you’re not getting confidential medical info. Unless you steal it. I wouldn’t recommend that either.

Dean Wade is out for Sunday too and JBB will not let on to if we can expect him to play in the playoffs... I think I saw someone speculate it may be also be a mental health thing gong on with Dean. Regardless if the team does not want to disclose his medical information or why he is out we should as a fan respect it, IMO... but whatever...
Only news I saw top of my head, Dean was at the facility recently and icing his knee like perhaps Tuesday...

No, they aren’t reported on “all the time.” They are reported very infrequently while a player is recovering from a long injury. Normally we get updates on players returning from injuries right before they are ready to play.

You mentioned asking team physicians about medical information. No team physician is going to violate HIPAA and give that to a reporter. Team will release required information to the NBA and might comment on planned surgery, recovery times and the like but much of that is kept confidential.

We haven't heard much about this, but I think someone reported that he injured the knee in practice after returning from the paternity leave. This would align with what little has been reported because he was at practice in Houston at the front end of the road trip and then we never saw him again.
