Luka Doncic

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm really big on Luka and would got that route but option C with being able to pair Bagley, SGA and Porter Jr together would be tempting based on potential.

On a side note the Kings need to play Bagley more than 22 minutes a night kid is at 12pts 7rbs 1ast 1blk on 52% and 36% from 3 and should get some run next to Cully Stein and at the back up 5 as well (should getting 5 of the 10 minutes Giles currently gets)

I think if I had to go with option C, I'd go with Marvin Bagley, Wendell Carter Jr and Michael Porter Jr. Point guard really isn't that hard of a position to fill. It's one of the most stacked positions in the league. Besides, there are always a lot of good/serviceable PG prospects in any draft.

Are there, though? Last year there was Doncic, if you count him as a PG, and Shai/Sexton who've both been up and down so far. This year there may be no PGs drafted in the lottery.

That point aside, I think Bagley/Carter/Porter is a solid choice.

What I meant by good/serviceable PGs is them not being liabilities on the floor. I don't think you need to have a Westbrook level point guard to build a very good team. A solid starter is enough, especially if all three of Bagley/Carter/Porter pan out.

Thought about Carter over SGA as well but the overlap between him and Bagley is one of the reasons I'd go SGA. Could make an argument for Sexton as well over SGA. I do agree that the league is loaded with guard talent but that isn't a valid enough reason to not address it. I think having one to develop with the other 2 in this scenario is more important than most.

The other reasons I'd go SGA is because he gives a good combination of size and skill on wing also for the fact that it's a guard dominant league. On top of that is if you don't have other guys that can get the ball to bigs the bigs are less effective.

The combination of those 3 gives a player with plus potential at the 4/5 in Bagley, the 3/4 with Porter Jr and a 1/2 in SGA who might be able to play at the 3 based on match ups after some nba strength training programs as the league trends towards a positionless style of basketball.

Would you rather have...

A. Luka

B. JJJ

C. Any three of the other 2018 draftees?

That's an interesting question. That's how far ahead of the field Luka and JJJ are.

Luka and it shouldn’t be debated after that I’d take JJJ then Zion

As long as we are generally discussing how Luka compares to other players, Bagley is looking pretty damn good too. I don't think the Kings are spending a lot of time looking enviously over at Dallas.

They should be, Bagley isn't that good

No way should the Kings be playing Bagley more. He's absolutely abysmal defensively.

Giles is atrocious too, but Bagley isn't the one that should be taking his minutes.

The kid isn't going to get any better at NBA defensive concepts if they leave his ass on the bench, he needs to play to adjust to the speed and strength of NBA players. Sitting a 19 year old kid with on the bench because of 1 thing is not how you develop a player with Bagley's talent, giving him 5 of the minutes that would otherwise go to Giles (who is worse) and making sure it's with WCS and Fox on the floor in real games will develop Bagley more than just about anything else other than an off-season NBA training program.

He's getting 24 minutes/game, stop acting like he's rotting on the bench.

The Kings are fighting for a playoff spot, and Giles barely plays outside of blowouts (3 total minutes in his last 4 games)

He should be getting 27 to 32 minutes a night and Giles was getting about 10 minutes up until the first of
December so it looks like what I'm saying they should do is starting to happen but it's a recent trend

I just disagree. Bagley is fine doing what he's doing, and is getting plenty of time to learn.

Outside of the first couple games of the year, Giles has hardly played outside of blowouts, so I don't understand the urgency to take his minutes away.

Happy to have a respectful disagreement :chuckle:

I just think it's better for them long term to give Bagley any minutes that would go to Giles since Bagley is the better player with a higher ceiling.

I'd expect them to move Giles or Skal packaged with Randolph's expiring at some point this season to sure up their PG spot behind Fox but they are the Kings. (Think Corey Joseph would fit well with what they are doing there)

Guys have you heard, it's Luka's revenge tour this week.

Got beat by the Suns tho. He didn't look great in this game. I figured he would have feasted on them.

Also, I just want to say Harrsion Barnes is terrible terrible. He had those amazing athletic measurables, but he is actually really slow to jump and he just doesn't use it in the game.
