Didn't get to Ant Man and the Wasp till today. Been on an MCU embargo to avoid spoilers, so I missed the James Gunn stuff.

Sucks. GOTG 1 is in my top 5 MCU for sure.

Just re-watched Infinity War... What a great movie

Also, I believe they finalized the Fox deal. Interesting to see how Disney incorporates the properties.

It's the way of the world now. It's why any smart person has already gone through any social media they have and purged all the stupidity.

Hmmmm...:cha (63):

Annndddd how would someone go about doing that??? (Just asking for a friend...my, um, cousin. He's a friend. Who ahh, needs to do this.)

So what does this mean?

X-Men and Fantastic Four can be incorporated?

Yes, but most importantly, DR DOOM!!!

F4 should be easy to incorporate. Will be interested to see what they do with XMen.

I've been waiting for a good presentation of Dr. Doom. He should really get his own stand-alone.

Where do you think they're going(if anywhere) with cap momentarily holding off Thanos's good hand at the end of Infinity War?

Thanos just shocked?

Stones in play?(soul)

Caps will appealed to Thanos because it was as strong or maybe even stronger than his own?

Something else?

Sorry if this has already been discussed repeatedly.

I think they are not really doing anything with it.bits just a way of making cap look super strong and courageous. He's much stronger than in the comics or thanos is weaker. I think it also goes to show thanos character he respects a good challenge even if it's an enemy

I don't think it meant anything at all. Thanos has already shown that he doesn't go all out in his fights just so he can have a little sport.

It was really just on theme with the scene. The Avengers were giving everything they had, and it really didn't mean shit.

He quickly slapped Steve away his his off hand.

Thor (with Stormbreaker) is the only character that is remotely relevant when Thanos has the full gauntlet.

Thanos, unlike many of the other marvel villains, doesn't -think- he is evil. He sees himself as the "ultimate good guy", doing what has to be done, albeit "unpleasant", to "save" the universe.

He recognizes other pure, idealistic "good guys" like Cap, and Thor - he is not going to relish defeating or killing them. He isn't killing off half the universe for personal glory, but to make life better for the remainder. After he does so, he doesn't set himself up as a god over the remainder - he retires away to a small cabin, feeling though his huge "sacrifice" has been done, and he has fulfilled his purpose.

Thanos: ..It was beautiful. Titan was like most planets: too many mouths, not enough to go around. And when we faced extinction, I offered a solution.
Strange: Genocide.
Thanos: At random. Dispassionate, fair. Rich and poor alike. They called me a madman. And what I predicted came to pass.

Thanos: With all six stones, I could simply snap my fingers and they would all cease to exist. You know what I call that? Mercy.
Strange: Then what?
Thanos: I finally rest. Watch the sun rise on a grateful universe. The hardest choices require the strongest wills.

Thanos: "I saved you."
Gamora: "No, no, we were happy on my home planet."
Thanos: "Going to bed hungry. Scrounging for scraps. Your planet was on the brink of collapse. I was the one who stopped that. You know what’s happened since then? The children born have known nothing but full bellies and clear skies. It’s a paradise."

Thanos: Little one, it’s a simple calculus. This universe is finite, its resources, finite… if life is left unchecked, life will cease to exist. It needs correcting."
Gamora:"YOU DON’T KNOW THAT!"
Thanos: "I’m the only one who knows that. At least I’m the only one who has the will to act on it.

He sees himself as a savior, who failed to save his own people, and is now redeeming himself, by saving half the universe.
I believe this is the thematic reason he doesn't appear to fight "full on" and kill everyone who puts up a fight, necessary or not. I think he identifies with (or pities them) in a way. He wants to save people. He still needs to consider himself the ultimate "good guy"

Those are my favorite kinds of villains, the ones who truly seeing themselves as the good guys.

Agree with your whole post, but... Thor, even with Stormbreaker, has no shot. He caught Thanos completely off-guard. That's not likely possible again.

Thanos literally defeated the entire lineup of cosmic beings when he had all of the Infinite Gems.

The one shot they have, without Warlock, is the angle they're going with now; i.e., time-travel.

I didn’t say he could beat him, just that he was remotely relevant. Nobody else could even ding him if they caught him off guard.
