Not like Carol Danvers.... chick's been through hell, a few times...

Tony Stark comes to mind, but... most comic book characters don't have as dark of a journey through their timelines.

I feel like Spider-Man has relatives or friends die like once a month in the comics. :chuckle:

So apparently Daredevil season three drops October 19th, and it sounds like Bullseye will be making his first appearance.

I’ll be in a wait and see mode to see if the miniseries will be worth paying for the stream service.

Some big news here. Disney has announced two limited series (around eight episodes each) featuring Scarlet Witch and Loki to debut on their upcoming streaming service, with more likely to come. More importantly, these series will feature the same actors as the films.

They're really going after Netflix.

I actually felt Disney didn't put that much effort into the recent seasons of the marvel Netflix shows for that reason.

There is also talk of Disney being offered all of Hulu after Comcast buys Sky. They will already have controlling stake once they own the parts of fox they bought. Apparently Comcast doesn't want to own the non-controling stake they currently have and the small bit they will get from sky.

Disney doesn't control the Netflix seasons the way they will control the new series that will debut on their streaming service. The new shows will actually be produced by Marvel Studios and overseen by Kevin Feige like all the movies, whereas the other "Marvel" TV shows are overseen by a different production company (Marvel Television or something like that), which Feige does not control directly.

Marvel television is still part of Disney. To me it just didn't feel like they put their best writers, directors, etc into the Netflix stuff recently. It just felt like they didn't feel like giving a soon to be competitor their best product.

If Netflix decided that the marvel stuff wasn't worth renewing, Disney could move it to their own streaming network.

Right, but my point was that the Netflix shows are controlled by a different studio that isn't overseen by the same person (Feige) who controls all the movies. That's why we've seen them increasingly move away from events in the films. You'll notice early on that they constantly reference the greater universe. I am re-watching season one of Daredevil and the central plot revolves around rebuilding the city after the events of the first Avengers movie. Now, though, they really don't reference the Marvel movie universe at all in the newest shows. The Netflix shows are basically in their own world.

Also worth noting that Netflix will continue to hold the rights to these characters until they stop renewing shows, so much like what Fox and Sony did with the Marvel properties they owned to maintain the rights, Netflix will likely keep producing the shows as long as it's feasible to do so.

As far as the writing goes, I thought Luke Cage S2 was very good, and I've heard that Iron Fist S2 is a big improvement over the first season, although I haven't watched it yet. Jessica Jones S2 was garbage, though.

It would be nice if they are tied in more to the movies. I thought Luke Cage season 2 was extremely hard to finish. I liked Iron Fist S2 but I still think the best seasons of all the Netflix/marvel stuff were the early stuff. I still think Daredevil s1 and Jessica Jones s1 are the best of the bunch.

Hopefully with the new stuff on the Disney streaming service, they won't be tied to specific number of episodes to be ordered. I think that's a major downfall of all the marvel/Netflix shows. Just too much filler to make sure they hit the episode and time marks.

I've been re-watching Daredevil in preparation of the new season dropping next month and watching this show really makes me wish DC would make an actual Batman TV show. Not garbage like Gotham but like a cable drama on a network such as FX or HBO. Given that Daredevil is basically just Batman + Catholicism I think it's clear a Batman drama could work pretty easily.

I'd gladly pay $15/month for a DC (or Marvel for that matter) streaming service with legit, high budget shows.

Batman, Flash, Spider-Man, X-Men... All would be great in this format given their rogue galleries.

I was really not into Luke Cage season 2. I wanted to like it, but Luke felt bland, Mariah was awful, and I couldn’t decide if I loved or hated Bushmaster’s character.

Iron Fist season 2 was shockingly enjoyable though. I though S1 was dog crap, but I really liked this recent season.

See, I thought Luke Cage S2 was a nice improvement over the first. It was more focused and didn't suffer from the second half being a notable decrease in quality like the first season did. It also had a great ending that made me want to see more and left most of the characters in interesting places while also wiping the slate clean a bit moving forward.

Iron Fist S2 is on my list. Re-watching Daredevil right now, but as soon as I finish either that or Sharp Objects, Iron Fist is up next.
