Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Imagine Delly with this new and improved Shumpert. Only reason I've been paying attention to them was because of Delly.

Shump is playing beyond his peak and it's not sustainable.

You can't say that for a fact. He could just finally be healthy. I mean, look at his hops right now, that's close to where he was pre knee injury in New York. And he was a good player back then. I mean, he's averaging 8 ppg. It's not like that's a phenomenal amount. But his on ball defense has been very very very good. His and Delly's contract are nearly identical but I think Delly peaked last season as well. Shumpert is a better scorer and Delly is a better passer. The rest is kind of even.

Delly doesn't fit with the Bucks. They will soon want him to be traded or benched for Brogdon.
Delly is a backup PG that comes in and hustles like crazy, he doesn't do that with the Bucks it seems.
Should have been a Cavalier for life, it's a damn shame.. really fucking stupid Gilbert.
Him missing from this team makes watching much less fun for me(I was eagerly waiting for the bench squad to enter the game every game, some times I liked watching them better than the starting lineup but this year, well, I can't stand watching the bench squad.). His hustle and grit is sorely missed.

I wanted to root for him on the Bucks but I can't.

Huh?

Maybe he isn't a traditional point guard, but Milwaukee is using him very well and getting their money's worth while the young future of their team learn how to win. Hope he gets his outside shot going again.

Parker is 21, I'm not sure why you're putting a low ceiling on a guy scoring a very efficient 19+ a game. I view him very differently than you do.

K.

I don't think it's a "low ceiling". He can be an all-star, a very good and efficient scorer, etc, and all of those things without necessarily being a top 20-30 player.

The one thing in his favor is that he is a perfect small-ball 4 in the current NBA. I think he is a mediocre rebounder at best, a medicore passer at best, and a mediocre defender at best. However, he fits well on that Milwaukee team where they dont necessarily need him to do all of those other things. He landed in a really good spot. And if he ends up a great shooter, it will make up for a lot of that. But I also think that being a good scorer/small-ball four with all of those other weaknesses is what limits his ceiling in terms of overall ranking and in terms of threatening the Cavs, because he's going to need to be elite to help Milwaukee threaten the Cavs as early as next year.

Now, if he ends up being a total monster 25 PPG super efficient small-ball 4 with above average athleticism and can stay healthy, then his ceiling is higher than I thought and I will be proven wrong, we'll see if he ever gets to that point.

Add in a healthy Middleton and yea, I think they're a threat. Soon.

Maybe the definition of "threat" is something we should decide on in this conversation.

Is Toronto a "threat"? I'd have a hard time saying yes, but objectively I guess you'd have to say they are. But Toronto needs to add a major talent or the Cavs have to lose a major step for them to be a realistic threat. The same goes for the Bucks. Even with Middleton, they need to add a major talent or the Cavs have to lose a major step for them to be a real threat. Neither situation is impossible, of course, but the Bucks have a long way to go to even be a threat to the Raptors. I think the Cavs just showed that when the Cavs are focused, when they want to, they can turn it on and set Milwauee down. Even with Love and Smith on the bench.

EDIT: As yourself this, and be honest. If Jabari were on the Cavs would you think the same? That it's not likely that he become a top 30 player? Or would you have a slightly rosier picture?

I really like Jabari. I really do. Maybe I'd be more optimistic if he were a Cav, but he has a lot of weaknesses and the NBA is deeper than ever. Think of the top 20-30 players in the league right now. That's a seriously fucking awesome list of players. Even if Jabari is the 37th best player in the league in 3 years, that means he's probably really really fricken good!

Bill Simmons and Joe House were just talking about how bad Delly has been this season and how he's holding the Bucks back.

Holy shit the Joe House?

I'm not saying he's an expert. Just saying that they were talking about what @K1rieIrving>AllOtherPG's was describing

Yeah, I had a sarcastic response because Simmons and House have been throwing opinions like this around for two decades. It usually ends up being half the story.

Dellavedova had a brutal two weeks on offense, now he is out with a hamstring. It is very possible the hamstring was a problem the whole time.

I'd like to renew my objection as it relates to your take on Jabari as he continues to elevate his game.

Also, the difference between Toronto and the problems Milwaukee potentially poses is Giannis. Pretty simple. He'll be way, way better than any player Toronto has managed to trot out there the last 3 years. A real, true, superstar.

I am very impressed with Jabari's offensive progression this year.

I think he leaves a lot to be desired defensively(so do all young players though), but most importantly I am disappointed in his rebounding.

If he turns into an elite scorer, those other things will be moot, but he has a long way to go especially as a rebounder to get to where you project him to be.

I hate how this is being framed with be as anti-Jabari, btw.

I said I didn't think he'd become a top 30 guy. I think he's going to be close to a borderline all-star. So right in that 31-40 range. Which is a hell of a player. I just think he will have to become a super elite scorer from that position because of the lack of defense and rebounding. He's a very good scorer, and maybe he'll get there, but I dunno about elite.

Looks like Delly might get replaced by their rookie in the starting lineup soon...dude put up a TD last night. Most Bucks fan have been clamoring for it too.

Delly for Dunleavy, who says no?
