Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

17. Cleveland’s reserves went beyond 50 points for the fourth game in a row, marking the first time Cavs’ reserves have done that as a group since 1991 (according to Elias). Matthew Dellavedova was a part of each of those four games during this stretch. He scored 13 on Sunday.

18. The Cavs share the ball less than any team other than the Knicks (they both average 19.9 assists per game). However, since Dellavedova arrived via trade from Milwaukee, the Cavs’ assists have jumped to 23.8 per game — which is 20th in the league. Delly’s seven assists led the Cavs and are a season high for him. The team’s 28 assists are also a season high. Notice a pattern here?

I want Sexton to get some bench minutes for this reason. How Delly didn't catch on in Milwaukee, I do not understand.

Bledsoe & Brogdon are better guards and with Antetokounmpo on the floor, the team didn't need a true PG as much.

Game time development is overrated by fans because it's the only time they see the guys play. I'm sure Sexton will have plenty of learning time with Delly in Independence.

Still their bench isn't great. He is currently making our bench the best one in the league.

I totally get the Bledsoe and Brogdan points, but Dely is a tough guy to leave on the pine. He can be effective in short bursts.

I think it comes down to if they wanted Bledsoe, Brogdon, and Giannis as their ball handlers then Delly is now competing against off-ball players. I think they just decided the SGs they have are a better pairing of speed, length, and height than to play Delly. George Hill might play better off the ball and has better speed/length but I think they will end up with the same issues with him. It's just a slight upgrade for the Bucks. I think they got Hill for one reason and that's to have him guard players like Terry Rozier who torched them last playoffs. If Brogdon or Bledsoe can handle the opposing teams PG, Hill will be glued to the bench much like Delly was.

delly came in and immediately shut down rozier, thats why he got a delly chant

Think Delly didnt fit with Kidds switching defence.
Then being injured......

Delly was being kept in a case with a sign "break glass in case of playoffs"

I think he has tried to downplay the folk hero thing in Cleveland, but I would be genuinely interested in whether he wanted to be traded for more playing time or not. Is it better to be the "break in case of emergency" guy on a contender or a key cog on a lottery team. He probably wanted to stay in Milwaukee.

I was wrong....it is wonderful to have him back with the team. Sexton REALLY needs to watch Delly closely. I think Delly working with him can make a huge difference.

if the idea is to keep fans happy during a tank then its a bad move for delly

thats like if a homophobic guy had to work on a gay phone sex hotline

Knowing Delly like I do, I dont think the hometown hero stuff sits well with him. He didnt even want a local court named after him.
But people change and I could be wrong

He was not happy when Nance started the MVP chants
