Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
LMAO @ the post title change.

Delly should be a Cav for life. I'm really mad he was a casualty of the salary cap before... the guy is just everything you want out of your backup guard. It's as if you have Calderon, but he actually plays defense.

Probably the biggest single mistake Griffin made. You can see in that video that when Delly came back as a member of the Bucks to get his ring, that the Cavs' players really had a lot of genuine affection/respect for the guy. JR couldn't even resist coming back to give him a second hug. Delly pissed off Kyrie by going at him so hard in practice, but Kyrie came around to understanding why that was so important.

Can't believe we didn't sign him to a good deal when we had the chance after 2015.

Knowing Delly like I do, I dont think the hometown hero stuff sits well with him. He didnt even want a local court named after him.
But people change and I could be wrong

Thing is, he's a hero here not because he's a great athlete/great player. He's a hero here because the fans truly respect how much he busts his ass every single time he is out on the court. That's not the normal kind of idolatry with which some athletes are showered by fans. It's really the same kind of respect people give anyone who puts forth that much effort at anything.

Sometimes an assist is not an assist.

Lebron was the master of the "flaming bag" assist. He liked to whip the ball to a shooter out of rhythm with no time on the clock. The shooter had to shoot, regardless if he was open or not. He could make good shooters look like shit.

Delly's grownup passing is something I have not seen on the Cavs since the one legged Baron Davis was on the squad back in 2011. Baron would sneak into a crease in the defense on the wing, pivot into the lane, and as the defense collapsed, he'd staple gun a bounce pass to a cutter's hands in rhythm, 7 feet from the hoop, 80% chance at 2 with a great chance for an "and one". Made weak shooter look awesome.

Love me some inside passing. Good foot work puts it over the top. It seems like a lost art in this age of pass it around the outside and launch a 3.

The short-lived Baron Davis era in Cleveland reminded me a lot of Dellavedova. That Heat game was the GOAT

That was the most emotional necessary game of my life. After that game I was able to put those decision feelings behind me. I always loved Baron, especially that Mavs GS series which was my fave non cavs series. I wish he had stayed as Kyrie's backup. I know he was too mercurial to do that, but having him on the team was really great, and he had that smooth game that was just so fun to watch.

Hey CAVS management. Could you please give us poor Maryborough peoples another "Australia Day" game like you did a few years ago now that Delly is back.

Delly is really exposing all the flaws in Sexton’s game.

Watching TJ McConnell in regulation yesterday for the 76ers I was like, "who does this guy think he is, Matthew Dellavedova?"

From TJ McConnell's summer league games as a rookie, the parallels were clear. He is a pass first, old school point guard with a high motor. Cavs went after him via trade after Delly signed with Milwaukee, but 76ers didn't want to part with him cheap.
