Mike Dunleavy Duck Hunt

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Really good pick up.... Solid player that'll fit well.

Whats this mean for our financial position. I.e lux tax, repeaters tax??

We're going to be in the repeater tax for sure in 17-18. There's really no way we wiggle out of it now.

When you assume Felder at 875k, LeBron's extension and a bunch of minimums, that already puts them in the tax. Then they still have to sign J.R.

Next year, they're tracking to be $8 million in the tax with J.R. assumed at 3 years, $36 million. So at least a position that is doable for some cap gymnastics if need be.

All in all though, they're in decent shape, as $8 million over isn't that bad. The repeater tax will cost them around an additional $8-10 million in luxury tax (vs. the traditional tax) if they stay in the ballpark of a $135 million payroll. That would slot next year's tax bill around $20-25 million. Not great, not terrible.

The only thing saving the Cavs are these astronomical cap jumps, without them, they would have been in a lot of trouble from a tax standpoint.

Welcome, Mike Dunleavy.

Echo what others have said. A solid role-player who can give us 1 or 2 seasons of decent team defense and hits open shots. The fact that he is a dirty fucking defender also helps because needed to replace Delly's ability to get into opposition's skin.

We still should! Fuck gilberts purse.

Man, the cost of keeping Delly is a joke now that we added Dunleavy / RJ.

Delly would mean an additional $20 million in tax this year and an additional $30 million next.

Might as well crap in Dan's heart if he's paying $50 million in taxes for a backup PG.

No coincidence RJ resigned, he now has someone to go out with him on Bingo nights.

We still should! Fuck gilberts purse.

I imagine it's a lot easier saying that when you aren't the one paying almost 10 mil a year for our backup PG plus whatever is owed for the tax

We all want Delly back, as we should. Losing a player of that quality without anything in return is tough. But looking at the circumstances, I think the report from the other day saying we aren't matching is real.

this is great news.

now lebron can have nights off with both jefferson/dunleavy sharing the minutes.

Yeah man.. this trade didn't have that in mind. MDJ's job will be 6 minutes and spot-ups.

If he can get back to something like this, it will be a great addition.
