Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm starting to remember why they always have GSP fight in Canada...they're the only ones that will cheer his boring ass fighting style simply because he's Canadian.

I'm just going to start editing this comment to avoid posting like twenty separate ones about this fight.

It appears that Diaz's strategy was to go down two rounds to zero to make his eventual victory all the more impressive. It's going to make him look kind of silly if he ends up losing this one.

I will give Diaz credit. He talks an impressive amount of shit for a guy who just got handled two rounds in a row.

Yeah, GSP has gone the full five rounds six times because he's a boring ass fighter.

Careful, Georges...if you keep this fight standing up it might be in danger of becoming interesting. Better tackle Diaz immediately and lay on top of him for three minutes!

I feel like at this point it would be fitting if Diaz distracted the ref and hit GSP with a chair. In fact, if that doesn't happen I'm going to walk away disappointed.

GSP spends an inordinate amount of time in his fights with his penis pressed up against the other man's buttocks. I'm not saying...I'm just saying.

I really, really want GSP to get knocked the fuck out right now. Please make that happen.

"Both men showing signs of combat." What in the fuck does that even mean?

I'm pretty sure GSP could drop his pants and take a dump in the middle of the arena and the Canadians would go wild.

Actually, I think I just described at least three of his fights...

Diaz isn't fighting with much urgency for a guy who has just over a minute left before he loses.

Come on, Canada. That's a very rude chant for a supposedly polite people.

GG, Diaz.

Oh look, another Diaz in a title fight, another Diaz getting totally dominated. Embarrassing performance for Nick after his brother got dominated by Henderson in much the same fashion. Good. Cocky bastards aren't nearly as good as they think are.

For all the bs Nick talked for months and months leading up to this fight, he sure didn't do shitmto back it up. GSP may have been boring, but he knew exactly how to control Diaz, take him completely out of his gameplan, and do what it takes to dominate the fight. Got into a discussion about GSP's style after the fight with a random guy at the bar. He was upset at the way GSP always fights. I get it. People want blood. They want heavy striking. And so do I. But, my point to him was, GSP is the champ, and it is going to be up to someone to take him out of his element and beat him. I mean, if you never watched Diaz fight before, would you have guessed the guy is considered one of the best pure boxers in MMA right now?

I think I've figured GSP out. He's not boring at all, while it may seem like it. He's just so damn good he makes everyone he faces look just awful and that they shouldn't even be in the cage with him. He's a great fighter, follows his game plan and just dominates. Even though Diaz has a chin and can take shots, GSP just is so fast with his punches, and that superman jab he does, it seems so easy to see coming but you can't defend against it.

I think a lot of people just love to see fights like the one we just saw the other week with Wandy and Stann. I have a ton of respect for GSP's game. It may not always be the most insanely exciting from an entertainment standpoint, but I think people that truly appreciate what MMA is all about understand the guy is pretty close to dominant. I would love to see GSP vs Anderson Silva. I think it would be epic. I think many people assume Silva would win because of his striking and submission being absolutely world class, but I look at the way Sonnen was able to control him for the majority of their first fight and think GSP could do the same. Silva takes advantage of openings like noone I've ever seen, but GSP is very technically sound. We'll see if it happens, but I honestly could see it going the route of the whole Mayweather/Pacquiao thing.

I don't think anyone is arguing that he's not a great fighter. His style is just really boring when he takes the fight to the ground (which is almost always).

"Both men showing signs of combat." - My word that made me say "What the fuck did Goldberg say?!" :chuckles:

Anyway, it wasn't as entertaining as the lead-up made us think it would be. GSP did the same thing with Condit but I saw Condit fight for his life even when taken down. Bendo totally dominated Nate and I would have wanted GSP to show the same thing but he went for control. I guess it goes to show how good Diaz is defending from his back.

One more thing, this fight showed me how different Anderson Silva is from GSP when it comes to the top of the pound for pound heap, Anderson will finish guys after making them look normal (1st fight with Chael is an exception) but GSP will make them look normal then control them. I refuse to call it lay and pray as it is something that is still very difficult to do. I still like GSP and I think his best days are still coming specially because he's still recovering from the ACL surgery.

Hey Matty, what's your friend's name? Nice to see more and more people post here. :D

The thing I love about Silva is that, when he goes up against good fighters, he always puts on a show. The only times he doesn't put on a show is when they put him against guys who are nowhere near his level and are afraid to even hit him, which has happened in at least two or three of his fights.

True, but he got major flak from that I remember him monkeying around in the Damian Maia fight (God I remember that day so much because its when BJ Penn lost his title). He promptly cleaned up and finished Forrest (well, the post champion version) and Bonnar (even on steroids).

EDIT: Oh yeah and speaking of Damian Maia, talk about someone finding himself again at Welterweight. First he squeezed blood out of Rick Story and submitted him, then he Fitch'ed Jon Fitch. I think he's gonna be a force at WW. I think he finally woke up and realized that he's a Jiu Jitsu master and not a striker. Easy guy to root for too.

GSP Silva enough already it's the Pacquiao Mayweather for the UFC. Make it happen enough of these guys beating these weak ass jobbers.

Might happen end of this year or early next year. Superbowl weekend? In New York? Silva faces Weidman in the summer and GSP faces Hendricks after that.

Although I think Silva presents a considerable advantage (I think Bones VS Silva is a better match-up), I'd still let them take my money to watch that fight.

I don't wanna see Silva GSP. Silva is just so much bigger than GSP. Silva walks around 225, while GSP is at 190, that is just a huge difference. Would GSP be able to take him down? I mean Chael took him down with ease, but Chael also is a lot bigger than GSP. If any super fight I want to see is Jones/Silva.

I see Silva just destroying GSP, your chin always stays the same, and Serra knocked out (may have been a fluke but still happened) and Condit dropped GSP with a beautiful head kick. Silva is a hell of a lot better than either of those guys and I think he just picks aparts GSP.

I think it gets easy to forget exactly who GSP is as a fighter. He's gotten this rep lately that he's just a guy who will wrestle you to the ground and just ride the fight out. But, to me, GSP has always been a master of identifying his opponents strengths and neutralizing them.

GSP can be a deadly striker when the situation presents itself and fits within his plan of attack. If we go back a few years ago to the Matt Hughes fight, we saw a completely different fighter. I don't think it's because GSP striking has regressed or anything. Matt Hughes was one of the most dominant wrestlers in MMA history. If GSP employs the same strategies against Hughes that he did vs Diaz(and others lately), he would have likely gotten his ass handed to him. But, in that fight, he was able to keep Hughes at distance and landed some absolutely devastating strikes. The same startegy was employed vs Jon Fitch, another renouned wrestler(although his striking eventually did lead to him pretty much outwrestling Fitch the whole fight, as well). The Koschcheck fight was brilliant. GSP almost just toying with the wrestler all night, basically just picking him apart with pinpoint punches and kicks landing like Josh was simply GSP's sparring partner or something.

I'm not saying I think GSP would beat Spider, but I certainly don't think it would be just some absolute beatdown by Spider, either. I'd probably be more excited for that fight than any fight since the glory days of Mike Tyson absolutely clowning people. It would be beyond epic.

I don't get the hate GSP gets for doing what he does. I mean, he stood in front of Diaz for most of rounds 4 and 5, and the great Nick Diaz, the amazing puncher, was out jabbed repeatedly and landed MAYBE 2 punches of consequence. But, basically, he just stood in front of GSP and did nothing. And GSP is the one who catches heat? What the hell was Diaz gameplan? Taunt GSP and just hope that he takes the bait?

Exactly. The last 2 rounds were a joke. Diaz is sticking his chin out telling GSP to hit him. Like, really, Nick, you douche. The post fight shit was more douchebaggery, too. I've really liked the Diaz bros as fighters for a while now, but Nick has been making it tough. That fight could have been so much more, but Diaz could have been replaced by any number of other fighters for the effort he gave last night. It was a joke. He already doesn't do gimself any favors with his mouth, but if he keeps pulling no shows like that, nobody's going think twice about not renewing him or his big mouth's next contract.
