Monta Ellis

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He can't shoot 3's. When he has the ball in his hands teams will sag off, packing the paint. This means even if he passes it to Irving or James, the spacing and lanes are clogged.

If we add a scorer, the guy has to be able to knock down open 3's.

Read my post again, he would've been perfect for us against the Warriors with Irving and Love injured.

I would be interested in Ellis as a backup guard, but not in the starting lineup.

Monta is a good player but a back-court of Kyrie and Monta is a recipe for disaster defensively. People criticize Ky's defense. Monta would make Kyrie look like Scottie Pippen.

Not quite true, unless it's the other way around.

Monta has held his opponents to much lower percentages (than their season AVGs) than Kyrie did. Kyrie's opponents actually shot significantly better than their season averages when facing him, which makes Irving a minus defender. Monta has held his opponents to lower %s than their AVGs which makes him an above average / plus defender. At least that's how it was last season.

This post is based on defensive stats from NBA.com/stats.
