Most of us do not like this team! Why ?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
1) Trading Kyrie. So he demanded a trade, so what? Kobe demanded a trade. You don't just give in to a talent like that. That's on Dan (who I am generally a defender of) for letting Griff go. Griffin may have been far from perfect, but he wouldn't have just given Kyrie away. He would've talked to Kyrie, talked to Lebron, try to make things work. Instead we gifted a top 10 player to Boston.

2) RJ and Frye. Those guys were our glue. When they joined this team initially, the Cavs chemistry went through the roof. This team just doesn't have it.

3) Tristan can't jump any more. Say what you want about his work ethic, his moral compass, or his mental state - I get it. Bottom line is, and watch the 2016 NBA Finals if you don't believe me, dude is not the same player. We're talking about a guy that averaged 5 offensive rebounds per game in the 2016 playoffs. He wasn't the same player last year, he isn't the same player this year. He has no legs.

4) Coaching. I've been a Lue defender for a very, very long time. I've run out of patience. His rotations have been whack all year. Jeff Green starting over Nance makes no sense to me. Our team's inability to defend anyone is inexcusable for the talent level we have on this team.

5) Hood and Hill are soft. It reminds me of watching Donyell Marshall play. A guy who was an elite 3pt shooter but, for whatever reason, couldn't hit 3s with consistency on a Lebron team. There have been several guys that just can't hang on a Lebron team. I think it's a mental thing. Mike Dunleavy comes to mind too.

6) Even if points 1 - 5 didn't exist, we still couldn't beat Golden State. And that's the most frustrating part. Give us Kyrie back, our championship team's chemistry, Tristan hopping around grabbing boards left and right, a coach that didn't have ulcers, and a few more mentally tough rotation guards.. It's still not enough dude.

We'll have had the 2nd greatest player of all time for 11 years with only 1 championship to show for it. He didn't get any help his first stint here. Injuries ruined any chance at beating Golden State in year 1 back in Cleveland. KD being a bitch ruined any shot at a repeat, or this year, or next year..

Is it greedy to feel dissatisfied with only 1 championship for 11 years of Lebron? No, it's not! You run back Lebron's career 100 times, and 90 times out of 100 he's bringing Cleveland at least 2 championships or more. This falls as one of the darkest timelines.

Don't get me wrong - I am thankful we got 1. I still find joy in that 1, and always will. That's all I ever wanted in sports, to see Cleveland win 1. And man we got it. Still happy to this day. But we also could have gotten so many more. This season's frustration, for me, is not just in watching this team not give their full effort every night, it's the big picture.

For Lebron's sake, I hope the dude goes to Philly and takes down the Warriors next year. He got me the championship I wanted, now go seal your legacy King. In the meantime, I'll be cheering this sorry team on all the way through the finals. (and lebron in the finals... you never know..? :chuckle:)

Will the Cavs change anything? "No," said Lue. "We need to change our mindset. We need to be more physical."

Asinine defined.

#1 A lot of peoples feelings changed when they traded Kyrie and they really miss that 2nd go to scorer who can consistently get 25-30. Love doesn't show up in the big games. 8 shots yesterday?
#2 Coaching - After 2.5 seasons Lue still doesn't have an offensive system and the def just keeps getting worse. He was laughing yesterday at halftime and saying "i'm not concerned" and that he thinks they'll turn it around. He has zero sense of urgency and it reflects on the team. His approach and attitude reflects on the teams. Every time it shows his face during a game he has this blank stare, makes me puke. His inability to develop young players like Cedi and Zizic while trotting out guys like TT and Green who aren't performing is inexcusable. Korver got benched yesterday for missing 3 fgs while Green plays 25 mins and goes 0-7. Couldv'e really used a couple 3s from Korver when we cut it to 8 in the fourth. When did Love get his first touch in the post yesterday?

I have never been so disgusted and frustrated with a coaching staff before. So many obvious things that the fans see and they dont. UGH

Thank-you! I honestly don't know if I want lbj to stay if it means Lue will be back - it's that bad. I just can't stomach another season of this.

The sad part is that any lbj sucess this postseason that would improve our chances of retaining him is going to be tied to Lue.

Channing and RJ were our glue guys, they made the team likeable. Delly was our underdog who showed heart.

Where would we be if Kyrie sat out the whole season with his knee or if it played out like it did in Boston where there is no Kyrie in the playoffs. How would we get better?

If we do have playoff success I hope Lue steps away to get his health right. I hope Fizdale waits for the opportunity and doesn't take the NY Job. Hopefully NY is Blatt's to lose.

Damn good, post. You can close this thread down after this!

For me, I just see no direction or identity with this team. They are so inconsistent on both ends. Effort is always up or down, usually down. And we kind of have a lot of chuckers and low IQ players, I don't see how the team fits together. Jeff Green starting isn't a formula for success. We keep doing the same crap over and over and don't change anything to fix it. But outside of Tristan, I don't really hate any of the players. It's not a personnel issue as much as it's a coaching issue imo. We may not have the perfect roster, but coaching is actively hurting us.

Some of it is out of our hands though. Kyrie wanted out, we scrambled with trades, traded half the team, and then all the injuries. The team has barely played together. So it's tough circumstances and we expect to do better than what is realistic because LeBron is so dang good. But while all that is true, so much is fixable and I haven't seen any steps to even attempt to fix our issues. We have had the same problems all year with virtually no progress.

I stopped liking this team when they let Delly walk for absolutely no reason.

Also, the constant threat of LBJ leaving. I don't even care anymore. I just hope he makes the goddamn decision one way or another this offseason.

I'd almost rather LBJ leave than sign another 2 year contract. Either stay until you retire or leave this year. I want to enjoy watching the Cavs again.

What I don't like about this particular team is that they think they are better than what they are. Because of that, we get this lazy play, effortless, weak team on the floor. They play too relaxed. Way more than before. The hunger is gone (if it was ever there) and a lot of that has to do with new players that don't bleed Cleveland.

Agreed.

I think a lot of this boils down to a lack of a consistent vision with the front office and the coaching staff.

Despite all of the roster moves Altman has made, I couldn't tell you what his basketball philosophy is. I don't see a lot of cohesion or fit or rhyme and reason to the moves he makes. He feels very amateur in that way to me.

The coaching staff's struggles are well-documented, but this statement applies to them too. I know that Lue has talked about wanting to run and play quickly since he took over the job. Unfortunately, part of running is being a consistent, strong defensive team. This team has been god awful defensively in the regular season since he took over, so his idea of wanting to run more could never come to fruition, yet there has been no change to get back to that vision.

When I watch Golden State play and I watch who they add and dedicate minutes to on their roster, I know exactly what they're trying to do. Same goes for San Antonio, Houston, Toronto, Boston, etc. And this isn't unique to the best teams. It applies to teams like Denver, Indiana, and others. I can see their vision when I watch the team play and I watch what their front offices are trying to do.

I understand that not everyone agreed with Griffin's pursuit of a historic offensive team by adding as many shooters at as many positions as he could, but I'll be damned if he didn't pursue a clear basketball vision with the way he built the roster.

This season, I just don't see one.

Even when Kyrie was here, the offense wasn't spectacular as far as actually running plays. It was basically Kyrie and LeBron taking turns. But it worked because we relied on talent and those guys got our shooters open shots. So like you said, it was clear what we were doing. It worked well enough. Now that Kyrie is gone, Lue's lack of offense and coaching is exposed that much more because we don't have the talent to overshadow the lack thereof.

But I still believe we have enough talent to be very competitive. It just isn't getting utilized at all. Nance should be a huge part of what this team does and he isn't at all. Cedi and Zizic have played great when they got the chance and now they don't play. The lineups and rotation is just horrible, play calling aside. And switching everything on defense every time is just stupid. Makes no sense, worst defensive scheme I've ever seen. It burns us every time. Our players looked confused on defense and they should. It's nonsensical.

I'd almost rather LBJ leave than sign another 2 year contract. Either stay until you retire or leave this year. I want to enjoy watching the Cavs again.

I don’t want him to draw it out either. It’s not like these teams don’t tamper anyway.

LeBron deserves all the accolades and I appreaciate all the things he’s done for my hometown but I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’m tired of the soap opera.

I’m also tired of Dan Gilbert and Lue. I’ve never been a fan of the way Dan runs the team but he owns it. I have to live with that.

I thank Lue for his part in helping the Cavs win the title but if LeBron leaves I want him gone out the door as well.

I like watching well coached teams that play hard and for each other. I enjoy that even if doesn’t result in long post season runs.

I really don't care about a championship anymore...it's not why I enjoy basketball. I don't care about the end goal, I care about the process, and I want the process to be enjoyable and fulfilling with or without LBJ.

I want to see players grow, I want to see team progression, I want our players to play hard on both ends of the floor and have fun each and every night.
What I basically want is a well run, professional organization and a good coach that is going to be demandful, hard, but also forgiving and relatable, with a sense of purpose and some good leadership skills to lead young and hungry guys to new heights each season.

I have also grown tired of this impossible pursuit of a championship, this group of merceneries that we try to field every season to no avail. What's wrong with trying to grow organically? to me it's more fulfilling and enjoyable to see progress of players that you had from the start instead of having a finished product that is probably going to be worse on the Cavs and once again be underutilized with King James.(See how the Warriors fans enjoyment had gone considerably down after that initial Kevin Durant craze)

I will know when things get better, and that's when I will finally feel much less critical. I need to trust this organization, and it doesn't happen right now for me. The first step in this direction is to get rid of the unprofessionalism and favoritsm.

Regardless, I will watch every Cavalier game whether Lebron stays or goes, but I will always be slightly envious of well run organizations like GSW, Boston and the Spurs, atleast until we change somewhat.

The Cavs have almost always been championship or bust each year. Hard to deal with continually because what is best today is not best in 3 years. Hence the TT contract. Necessary at the time, albatross now. If we weren't so under the gun, you get ateam option on that last year and we get something good for TT next year.
