2019 NBA Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I like the idea of Goga. If we can somehow trade down into the late lottery or right after that using a pick and a player, we can probably get it done. Goga in the top 10 would surprise me.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't go Top 10.

He's all over the place on mocks. I have no gauge on him. His numbers say he should go top 10. I think there is a reticence on Centers because of the dominance of small ball and guys like Capela losing their luster come post season. Embiid and KAT are the only ones to go really high recently. Seems like a good value position though with Jokic, Nurkic, Gobert and others going so late.

Athletic big men that can actually shoot and run the floor are extremely valuable. One problem I see is that 7 foot guys tend to dominate inside at lower levels because they lack competition that can possibly contest their size. That stops being an issue in the NBA where they can counter size in the post, so they need to do more and frequently that part of the game is raw. So the projection is large enough that their draft position suffers.

The best 7 footers are all unique too. They have some weird skill that makes them very effective.

people might not want to hear this but cam should not be ruled out for the simple fact that he has so much potential.

I do think he has upside. I also think Beilein could be great for him. Shooting won't be an issue, that fear is overblown.

It's tempting.

Last year, 5 of the top 7 picks were guys 6'10" or bigger. The No. 1 overall, Ayton, was a pure center, as was Bamba at 6.

I think NBA pundits are more dismissive of the value of big men than are NBA executives, and pundits also tend to undervalue/underscout foreign players - especially foreign big men. So I think NBA GM's probably have Goga higher on their boards than do the draftniks. The draftnik bias is also because of the process itself. Those guys go to the combine, try to write stories/make predictions based on which teams talked to which players, etc.. And then they do that all over again with the visits. That's a big part of how they gauge which teams are interested in which players.

Well...Goga isn't a part of any of that. They don't see him at the combine, or at the site visits, so he naturally drops down their lists. But that doesn't mean the teams themselves discount guys just because they're not at the combine, etc..

Doncic was kind of a unicorn. Flashy wing numbers, ridiculously young, and good looking. But generally, the scouts/pundits devalue foreign guys.

Not sure why people wouldn't want to hear that. Cam had an underwhelming season, but he's still a solid prospect. Everyone after 3 has a red flag, these are the picks that make a GM/scouting department.

I would say that all the picks have read flags.
