2019 NBA Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
No. He got players nobody thought highly of and transformed them. He didn't have a choice as a college coach. Gotta recruit the kids that wanna play for you. Now he has his choice of who he wants. Completely different. He may have gotten his 2nd or 3rd tier options in college. Now he gets his first option.

5th lol!

5th overall pick would be the equivalent of a top 10 college recruit which he never got at Michigan. He's not getting Zion, Ja, or Barrett. But he is going to get a player he wants instead of shifting to the bottom of barrel for talent.

We don't know his taste. He might be very confident in developing the upside of someone we think sucks.

Maybe. But that's what the 26th pick is for. If he uses a top 10 on a raw project I would riot.

We are talking about Hunter and Culver mostly at 5. A lot of people are looking for higher ceiling guys, but a higher floor higher ceiling guys compared to those 2 don't exist.

I have changed my stance on Hunter. Orginally I viewed him as a low upside player but I'm changing my stance some. I think Hunter has some upside. I also believe Culver has the 3rd highest ceiling in the draft behind Zion and Morant. Culver was a knock down shooter as a freshmen. Then adjusted his game to be more of a playmaker as a freshmen which effected his shooting but if he puts it all together he can be a play making wing with range and solid defense.

Yeah I like Hunter much more than I did previously. Some have said, why take Reddish thinking he may be as good as Hunter one day? You would have to believe in his ballhandling I guess. Hunter is almost as large, a much better defender, and a better shooter from everywhere. Much better finished and less turnovers.

Culver is supposed to be the better fast decision-maker and better ball-handler, so maybe he really has star upside.

I do not worry much about guys shooting unless their shot is broken, so I think Culver will be fine there. Maybe not going to be 40+, but I am sure he will be a positive shooter.

Reddish played PG in HS and AAU. I think he is ready day one to split primary ball handling with Sexton if need be. I think Culver's ball handles look fine in college but he will look similar to Cedi's current level when he gets to the NBA. I think ball handling helps alot in the NBA. If Hunter and Reddish were the same volume and percentage from 3, I think Reddish's handles gives him the advantage to be a star.

I can see why some think Reddish will fit better into the NBA. He only shot 34% from NBA 3 but 41% of his overall shots came from NBA 3. Maybe he took this season at Duke to adjust to the NBA 3 pt line and he will come out of the gate adjusted to the NBA 3pt line while others will take a season or two to adjust.

I think Reddish's ceiling is close to Zion, Barrett, and Morant's, a #1 or #2 star on a good team. He floor is just way lower. I think Culver and Hunter's ceiling are more like #3 guys on a good team, Culver would be considered a star while I think Hunter would be a borderline star (like Middleton).

I think I would be comfortable with Reddish at #5 especially if we are able to take someone else with high upside in the teens by trading JR's contract. To me that would be trying to build a contender vs 5-8 seed playoff team.

Brazdeikis could be gone by 26 imo. I would not have any issue with him taken there but don't really think they will pick any Michigan players because of Beilein.
I would be surprised if they were not targeting Chuma Okeke at 26 in the hopes he slides due to injury.

Why Okeke? Just curious. He’s an undersized PF, ableit with a long wingspan. With the ACL injury, he could fall to the 2nd round or to a team like the Warriors who can afford to be patient with him.

I agree. Hunter & Culver are safe picks with lower ceilings whereas Reddish & Garland are higher ceiling, lower floor guys. It’s interesting about Reddish playing point in high school & AAU ball. I didn’t know that.

Yeah I didn't know it till I went looking for his shot chart.

"Plays PG for his HS and AAU team and handled ball handling duties for US u19 team as well. Not amazing vision but his handle allows him to make plays for others and himself. Able to bring the ball up even against pressure.

Very fluid and coordinated, doesn’t look out of place at any position 1-4. Will find open man, comfortable making pass off dribble, keeps his head up, likes to draw and kick

Shot selection needs work but he has excellent range on his 3 point shoot, already comfortable from NBA range. Quick release.

Gets low the ground with his handle, flexible, has serious moves off the dribble. Live dribble counters, can stop on a dime and pull up or use size and craft to get all the way. Handle doesn’t slow him down at all, in open court situation, his top speed is pretty good.

When feet are set and he goes up with balance he is a knockdown shooter. Low 3pt percentages seem to be more a product of role and shot selection. Hand down, man down from out to 30 feet, can really provide great spacing in modern game."

In the for what's it's worth Okeje would be in the top five discussion if it weren't for the injury IMHO.. he impacted his team more than reddish or Culver. I don't see him as a power forward at all..

He didn't have close to the impact that a guy like Culver had.

I think he had the talent. However he turned it over a lot. A lot of guys handle the ball in high school and then don't make it to the next level. Culver proved he could handle it in college.

It's a tough call for sure. I trust Koby and his team so far on talent evaluation.

Reddish is very tempting, but Culver and Hunter have already taken the developmental steps that will keep them in the league. Reddish could be a total bust
