2019 NBA Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think we're sitting fine at 5. We will be able to take one of Culver or Hunter, both of whom should be decent NBA players if not stars. If we want we can swing at a high ceiling/low floor guy and have our first dibs of those. My preference would be to take Culver or, if he goes at 4, Hunter. But I could understand the thinking if they roll the dice given the current state of our rebuild.

I would really look closely at Dylan Windler at 26. He might just evaporate against top competition, but if his 3 point ability and even a bit of his other stuff (boards, assists) translates, he will be a useful rotation guy.

I think he had the talent. However he turned it over a lot. A lot of guys handle the ball in high school and then don't make it to the next level. Culver proved he could handle it in college.

It's a tough call for sure. I trust Koby and his team so far on talent evaluation.

Reddish is very tempting, but Culver and Hunter have already taken the developmental steps that will keep them in the league. Reddish could be a total bust

It's true he could be a total bust but I think his floor is really Jeff Green that is a more willing 3 point shooter.

I wonder if salary cap building comes into play with how much risk they will take with the #5 pick. It seems easier to build a contender if you are able to bring in another star via free agency or trade while one or more of your stars is still on a rookie contract and the team doesn't have too many role player on long term contracts to hamper the cap. Philly seem to be able to take advantage of having Simmons on a rookie contract and Embiid on his second contract to get Butler and Harris. They also have the flexibility to swap out one of Butler and Harris this summer in free agency for a better fit.

Why Okeke? Just curious. He’s an undersized PF, ableit with a long wingspan. With the ACL injury, he could fall to the 2nd round or to a team like the Warriors who can afford to be patient with him.
If you consider a 6'8" sf/pf undersized so be it. He is (or was yet to be determined post injury) very mobile as a defender . I think he proved as the season went on to be the cream of the crop not just one of the top 3 & d prospects in this draft.
I liked him better than Hunter before the acl tear. I don't think Hunter or Okeke would have gone or Hunter will go as high as most mocks project, but when it comes to players than can defend 1-5 in college hit a high % of 3's and in Okeke's case at a much higher attempt rate than Hunter, not to mention impact the game defensively all over the court, he would be a massive steal at 26.
But if he projects to recover to that level of play I doubt Portland doesn't take him 1 pick ahead of us.

Lowkey excited to make a post celebrating Reddish's 20th birthday in a few months. I think some people are under the impression that he's 18 like Zion and RJ :chuckle:

The people that want Reddish remind me of the people that wanted to trade Irving for Wiggins when he demanded a trade. I think people are really fooling themselves with the upside that Reddish actually has. They see him a future all star wing, which he will probably fall well short of.

For those of you who watched the Cavs 20 years ago Wesley Person 2.0 is actually a decent comp. Streaky shooter, decent athlete but nothing special.

He is 20 already? Sheesh. Save us.
might as well be sept 1st he's 20
Bol is 20 in Nov.
most of the 1 and done's turned 19 as college freshman so it's not that shocking..
the youngest one's are turning 19 this summer or just did like Kevin Porter in may.
Zion turns 19 in July,
Barrett June 14th, Lecque June 13th, Sekou Doumbouya is basically the youngest not turning 19 until December 23rd and Bassey doesn't turn 19 until the end of october
In contrast Culver turned 20 in feb. and Hunter turns 22 in December.

Other notable outliers, for completeness: Brazdeikis turned 20 in January, making him the oldest freshman in the draft (that I'm aware of). Horton-Tucker won't turn 19 until November 25, making him almost two full years younger.

Someone please name one thing Reddish does better than Langford..

Reddish is a better 3 point shooter. Reddish also shot 77 from the FT Line, 73 for Langford. Reddish was also better at getting steals. Now as for reasons of shooting percentages I realize Langford was injured. But Reddish was really put in a poor situation playing next to Zion and RJ Barrett. He couldn't adjust to being the third option on a stacked Duke team. Tre Jones also got the ball more then him. Langford was chucker supreme on a crappy Indiana team. I trust who ever Beilein wants in this range. I am far from a Reddish fan but arguing Romeo Langford is better is just ridiculous.

>>>>>>he has the potential to be, agree there he has one of the best pure forms of the draft

>>>>>>Do not care. This is a fangeeks stat and improvement there for both is very likely
. Reddish was also better at getting steals.
>>>>>>yawn, that can change

>>>>>>Well duh. Both have a bunch of potential and a bunch of warts on the surface.

Oh brother. Wesley Person was a 3-point gunner who does little else. Reddish has a far more complete game and is able to drive to the hoop.

He is actually not a great finisher in traffic . Maybe he improves but he is not the all around athlete you guys are making him to be. He is actually not even on the same level of prospect as Wiggins. You guys are taking yourself into pure hype at this point. Poor iq, does not love the game and over rated traits. He has a significant bust potential.

Culver, Hunter, Reddish. I wouldn’t complain about any... Bol Bol is intriguing the more I hear about him.

NBA draft is all about talent and upside, not finished products. Hunter has the lowest ceiling, but highest floor of those four.

Obviously I’d take any of the top 3 if they were to fall to five, but as it’s not likely I didn’t list them.

I think the problem with this draft is even over other drafts, you know there are a couple of nuggets outside Williamson/Morant, you know there is talent ready to be plucked and you know one of those teen picks, somebody is going to develop into a stud. That is what sucks. Its a total free for all of luck.
