Need another wing.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Lebron Point forward, Kyrie SG, Josh Smith SF, Love PF, Varejao C

Josh Smith is a power forward, not a small forward.

Can't he play both?
Anyways, I wouldn't mind getting him for a vet minimum to make him come off the bench..
What harm could it make? Cavs would need to pay 27M$ though right?
I don't really like him but who knows lol

Has there ever been a nickname that was so out of place for a player? J smoove? Smooth is not a word I would ever consider to describe josh smith.

He can't play both effectively. Detroit tried to make him a SF last season and he had a terrible season.

But there's no point in arguing this. He isn't coming here to play 20 minutes a game for the vet minimum and if Griffin is serious about valuing shooting I doubt he'd want him even if he would.

I'd get him jusit to keep him away from other contenders.. I still believe he could be a good role player off the bench if he got a brain somehow in the deal

Sounds to me like any team could pick him up for the vet minimum. Is that the case?

He'll be a free agent AFTER he clears waivers unless a team picks him off of waivers which is highly unlikely because then that team will be responsible for his contract. In essence, the Pistons just released an asset knowing full well that they would still have to pay him as he played for another team.

I'm assuming SVG was trying to trade him but nobody wanted him and so he decided to release a guy who he thought was a cancer. All of this should give any team pause before it picks him up, but of course, different scenery could provide different results.

Pistons had an offer from Sac in Thompson and D.will to Detroit for Josh Smith, they turned it down, good choice :O

For the record, Marc Stein reports a number of teams as possible destinations...Sacramento (the one team that had some interest in actually trading for him), LA Clippers (because Doc indiscriminately likes every vet free agent), Miami (because, well who knows), Houston and Dallas (not sure why either of them would want him either)...So no Cavs.

Stein implies that had Detroit managed to trade him, they would have had to attach pick(s) with him. So it probably wouldn't have been as simple as flipping him for Jason Thompson, Derrick Williams, etc.

The dream may be dead now with Andy's injury.

What dream?
I thought it would be easy to understand given the thread this was posted in; another wing of course. Not sure we have the assets to acquire both a wing and a center, this season anyway.

A wing is not really that needed as long as Miller is starting at the 2 and Marion is coming off the bench.
