New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re-watching The Office again. The Will Ferrell episodes are so bad.
Probably my favourite US show though. Just really good writing. The UK could never have such qualqua for such a high volume

Silicon Valley game back last week with a fantastic episode. Definitely one of the best comedies currently on TV.

I've been enjoying AP Bio as well. I don't usually get into many network comedies, as most of the best sitcoms tend to be cable/streaming, but Glenn Howerton is his usual hilarious self and the kids they cast are pretty funny.

Barry episode 2 was even funnier than the first. Best lines that had me bursting out laughing:

"I would love to play a child molesting priest..."

"I wish I could say this was the first time one of my students was gunned down in the street, but it's not. And it probably won't be the last.

Yeah. Did that because they weren't allowed to say fuck on SyFy. You get used to it after a while, though.

No, it's because the original 1978 version of the show said frak because they couldn't say fuck on network tv. Everyone does know the syfy series wasn't the original series, right? It's just the far better version.

I like AP Bio also. Like the Mick and Always Sunny in Philadelphia, it's not a very predictable tv show. It goes down some rabbit holes and off in weird directions. Alot of broadcast comedies you just know the direction they are going the moment the show starts.

It seems like the best of the comedies from the mid-season additions. Champions is entertaining but has alot of the feel of the Mindy project. Splitting up Together seemed alright from the first episode but it's just another non-tradition family show. Living Biblical seems almost played out even though the premise of the show is fairly orginal. It follows the multi-cam comedy formula beat for beat, that it's almost boring. I had high hopes for Alex Inc but the pilot just didn't grab me. Im going to keep watching for a couple more episodes just because I'm a fan of Zack Braff. I didn't watch Roseanne, I'm not a fan of the orginal and reboots don't really appeal to me.

The Ricky Gervais special is so hacky

Only thing I don't like so far is the use of "frak" instead of fuck

It's annoying as hell

Yeah, if you do that it apparently messes with your street cred. Just sayin'

Started Battlestar Galactica for the first time (I know, I know) earlier this week.

Really fucking good show.

It's sooooo good. I watched it on Netflix back in like, 2011 my last year of college. Was glued to my screen for a week straight.

Not the greatest effects or anything but everything else is pretty top notch. Thinking about grabbing the Blu Ray and doing a rewatch.

It's on Prime Instant Video now by the way

Considering I referenced the original in a previous post, obviously know about it. Never watched it, though, outside of seeing a few clips, because it looked terrible.

Either way, the fact remains that they can't say fuck on SyFy any more than they could back when the original was aired.

why can't they say that on SyFy? It's a cable channel, not broadcast TV.

Same reason they can't say it on FX, or TNT, or AMC, or any other non-premium cable channels. They're beholden to advertisers, and thus advertisers dictate that they aren't allowed to use the word fuck constantly or show any non-butt nudity. There's a reason why you only hear that type of language on channels that don't have to deal with selling ads like HBO, Showtime, and the streaming services like Netflix and Amazon.

Some shows just avoid the language altogether, like most FX shows. Some shows just bleep them, although I feel like that's a lot more effective in a comedy than a drama. Breaking Bad had a couple of f-bombs, but they were all muted on the live broadcasts of the show. Battlestar used frak as a workaround.

But if you can find me a non-premium cable, non-foreign show on cable that uses fuck constantly, let me know. I don't think there are any.

She still a mega whore? Stopped watching
She starts off being absolutely insane and unlikable. Chasing her ex down and doing a shit job of fucking with his gf

Middle act where she battles her brother is OK, then she ends up with some boring Irish dude.

I feel like she was back to being fairly likable again by mid-season. It crazy how I use to hate the Frank's storylines in the first couple seasons and now they are some of the more interesting ones. For me Frank is way more likable now. I hate the direction the storyline for Debs from the last two or three seasons. Ian, Lip, and Carl feel like they were almost in a holding pattern storywise in season 8.
