New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I want to read the Expanse books. So I wont be watching the show.

Gonna start Justified back up from the beginning. Lost it after about season 2 or 3 but I’d like to go back and see it through.

I feel like a dumbass, I went back to try to watch expanse again yesterday because of what everyone said. It said I watched the first 10 minutes of the first episode which I didn't think was right so I just started it from the beginning. I guess I've been thinking Expanse was Dark Matter for years now. I think I tried watching both at close to the same time and it blended together. Both are space shows on SyFy so I guess it wasn't that hard to confuse them.

I'm 2 episodes into Expanse and I'm in. I plan to try to binge as much of it as I can this weekend between World Cup and Cavs Summer league games

Lol - I am glad you realized. Here is what I would advice as a heads up. Expanse is going to seem slow and all over the pace for a while, but once you absorb what is going on, It will all start fitting in. You need the patience.

Dark Matter - that is a cheesy space flick, but it is cancelled - So dont bother.

Started re-watching Gomorrah the past week or two and am almost done with the first season. I think this is the best show currently on television. Three seasons and they've all been home runs, and like The Wire they just have some serious gut punch moments.

Anyone watching Succession on HBO?

I'm a fan of it so far.

I didn't watch this weeks but Im on the fence about giving it up. The first episode is good but I feel like the world isn't as grand as the first episode makes it out to be. The next 3 episodes are fairly boring. Anything good happen this week to draw me back in?

Yup, although if you thought the last 3 episodes were boring, not sure what you will think. The last episode some major plot developments occurred and I thought the episode was directed in pretty thrilling fashion.

Others have mentioned to me that they thought it dragged at times too but it doesn't at all to me. I am also a big Brian Cox fan so there's a bit of a bias there but I didn't know of any of the other cast members before watching - I just think it's a pretty compelling family drama but with the SUPER rich lifestyle / big media company angle thrown in to add to the dynamic.

I largely don’t watch TV but have a friend staying with us and he throws on Peaky Blinders. It’s an Irish mob series on Netflix, is based in 1919, and I really am enjoying it. Really good villain in it: some evil priest. Also badass main character who leads his mob family.

I think we are watching season 2 or 3, and I think I like it more than the Sopranos.

Since I don’t watch much, don’t take my opinion on it. Maybe I just like shows and this is the first one I’ve seen in a while. Anyone else watch this?

On an unrelated note, any shows recommended to watch w the wife? She doesn’t like gore or extreme violence, I don’t like romantic comedy. That’s about it.

Also have the kids into the occasional episode of Planet Earth or Planet Blue. Nature’s fucking awesome so good to share that with them. Anything else recommended for kids that isn’t just another movie? Something that has some sort of good message or something valuable for them to learn about.

Just finished Mad Men (again).

I really loved that show. So many characters had such compelling journeys to me.

I also thought it was one of the best finales out there.

Now I need something new.

Something besides:
  • Lost
  • Breaking Bad
  • GoT
  • Billions
  • Justified
  • Homeland
  • Curb
  • Veep

I’m finally getting into The Office due to my girlfriend if that helps.

First episode of Sharp Objects was really good.

I really liked the first two episodes. I think it's the most interesting show currently airing. The crop of summer shows has been lacking this year. Sharp Objects might be the only show I'm excited to watch.
