Yeah man when you put everything together and weigh all the bullshit, the black shield is fucking horrible after all. I don't like one thing about this entire organization, well, maybe besides Gilbert's checkbook -- that always has an answer.
Couldn't agree more:
- The new 'logo set' is atrocious; I still have no fucking idea what this Microsoft Word clipart 98 image is for:
- The jersey set is about as bad as any team I've ever seen. Still can't get over how badly the colors clash and the alignment of the text is in total disharmony. Just doing some digging online now, this website (
https://www.underconsideration.com/...leveland_cavaliers_by_nike_identity_group.php) has the following to say about it: "In good Nike Identity Group fashion, the typography is really bad… just a mishmash of angles, cuts, and spikes and weird proportions."
Some more evidence of this:
Another comment online: "Inconsistent line weights, colors that just run into each other (shield bkgd and sword color), different shield shapes, and then there's the amount of different angles going on here in the wordmark. This is terrible execution."
- Also something even more horrendous that I never noticed before:
The inner outline of the 'C' is navy, while the background is black. I always thought the whole thing was black. This takes things to a whole other level of "suck."
- It gets worse - stare really closely at the logo and you'll get this:
- I'd still have to say that our only decent jersey of the last decade would have to be this:
Really loved everything about these, from the color palette to the upside-down "All For One. One For All" print.
- Regarding our new 'City Jersey,' it honestly doesn't even feel like a basketball jersey to me. It looks more like a DH Gate/Ali Express knock-off of a Korean beach volleyball team.
- Basically, there's not a lot to love on the court with this team. There's definitely not a lot to love in the front office. And there's nothing to love from a branding perspective, either. Meaning I could care less to rep any of the current range of Cavs gear available at the moment.
- The only thing I'd buy would be something like this:
I mean, they could've just gone with this as the City jersey (sleveless, obviously) and it would've been far cleaner. Pop some white piping/lines on the trims and we're good to go!
