NFL Playoffs Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There really is only a handful of teams in each league I don't have some minor reason to hate. Minnesota and Jacksonville are those two teams for me, but a good part of me envied how the Jags were built.
I can't in good conscience root for team whose fanbase couldn't give 2 shits about the franchise.

If Jags win the SB, my guess is our 0-16 parade in sub zero temperature gets more fans than their parade in 70 degrees.

That’s like saying “Red Sox are ok because they occasionally beat the Yankees”.

In a 30+ team league, you can have more than 1 detestable team

I'll ride with the GOAT and appreciate the greatness while it's here.

Which is fine. I mean, I'd say Brady is not the GOAT of QBs, but an opinion of "he's the best so I'll root for him" is a reasonable opinion.

What I don't get is how you could say "How does anyone say Fuck the Pats....". Like, there are many, MANY reasons to not like the favoritism or elitism or arrogance of all things associated with that team and region.

It's also reasonable for a non-Cavs to say "LeBron is the GOAT, so I'll root for him". But it's be really naive to think every fan SHOULD love LeBron. There are probably many reasonable basketball fans who got sick of LeBron when he was a junior and Nike/ESPN started deifying him. And it would be stupid (IMO, anyways) to tell that person, "Nah, LeBron is great, how could you hate him". There are plenty of reasons to dislike him.

So root for the Pats all you want. Just you shouldn't act surprised when people disagree for very obvious and fundamental reasons.

This will be referenced a lot in the near future. Considering Sashi used to work there and they use analytics more than any team in the league. They were laughed at as being the only other team that used heavy analytics (not true because NE does this a lot) when The Browns promoted Sashi and brought in Depo. people laughed at the success of JAX since they have been using analytics. They've piked in the top 5 of the draft for 4 straight seasons so people deemed their use of analytics a failure. Now they have a Super Bowl caliber defense and enough felxability to replace a QB who many deem underwhelming.

They are literally winning in a way that many Browns fans love to say does not work. They do not value the QB position as much as crazy ass fans do. They created cap space and amassed high draft picks. They didn't bail on their analytics approach. They now have a 25% chance of winning the Super Bowl this year. Not including this year, in the last 5 seasons JAX has won a total of 17 games. The Browns during that same stretch have won 20. One team is a Super Bowl contender and the other team is currently searching for their 1st win since The Obama Administration.

So yes, you should envy how JAX was built. We had people here who were ready to lay the groundwork and put us in a similar position. Now we can still. catch up to where JAX is at right now as soon as next year. Calais Campbell is a DPOTY candidate. We have Myles Garrett. They have Jalen Ramsey and we can draft Minka. They signed Bouye and we can sign Trumaine Johnson. They drafted Fournette well we can draft any RB in this class or sign any RB in FA. Their best receiver missed the entire season with an ACL tear. Not only can we sign their best receiver in FA but our very own best receiver was out of football for years and still looks elite. They don't have a David Njoku on their team. They do have other very good defenders though. Telvin Smith, Myles Jack, Malik Jackson, Yannick Ngakoue, Dante Fowler, Marcell Dareus, and Barry Church are all very good players. So are Kirksey, Schobert, Collins Sr., Ogbah, Shelton, Ogunjobi, McCourty, BBC, and Brantley. Plus we can add more elite talent in this draft and FA. It's not like we were years away. We were right there and our idiot owner let a snake ass head coach win him over no merit and decided to scrap what we were doing and make sweeping changes and leave the one man here who's most responsible for 1-31.

So yes again hate JAX but other fans should be hating The Browns more than we hate them ourselves.

We've got Boston fans out there clamoring that Paul Pierce is better than Kobe & kids holding signs bragging about how many parades they've gone to in their life. Fuck the Pats and Boston just a little-bit less than the Steelers.

Edit: And, why is this thread still in Browns Talk and not Around the NFL?

I started one in Around the NFL, thinking there's no way there'd be any playoff talk in Browns talk

No one uses the Around the NFL page. All the threads in there are ex-Browns players that have been moved from Browns Talk.

I'd rank him 6th, and would seriously consider putting Elway ahead of him.

I didn't even think it was debatable anymore that Brady was not the GOAT.

Aaron Rodgers is a better QB than Tom Brady. I also think prime Peyton was better.

I will say, I do find it funny how much a legacy changes because Pete Carroll & Kyle Shanahan lost their goddamn minds.
