Coming off a split from a four-game series with the Twins, the Oakland Athletics come in for a three-game series. The Athletics have been one of the most disappointing teams in baseball this year, by far. They have no power, no speed, below-average starting pitching, and a bad bullpen made worse with the injury to Octavio Dotel. Indians need to win at least two of the three games. Series Matchups:

Friday- 7:05 PM- Cliff Lee vs. Barry Zito
Saturday- 7:05 PM- Scott Elarton vs. Kirk Sarloos
Sunday- 1:05 PM- Jake Westbrook vs. Seth Etherton

Tribe wins game one, 4-1. Lee went six innings, in between two rain delays. Betancourt and Howry each pitched a scoreless inning. Wickman came in for the 9th, and struggled pitching injured. Riske ended up coming in to close out the game once Wickman left. Belliard hit a 2-run HR to put the game out of reach.

Wickman has stiffness in his lower back that forced him to leave the game and he said he will not be pitching tonight either.

Indians win game 2 by a score of 6-3 with Elarton getting the win. They then got the sweep today with a 6-2 win and Westbrook getting a win. Great series. They get a day off before starting up with the central teams again.
