Offensive Staff Thread (David Lee hired as QB Coach)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That 2011 Oakland team was building something, we have no idea what it would have looked like because the plan ended abruptly. One has to wonder why Wylie hasn't seen much success in 20 years, from what I could tell his only playoff caliber team was the 1991 Jets, and he has been in and out of the NFL along the way. Generally teams start their playoff push a year or two after he is gone. It's a bit of a pattern.

I'm more interested in what this means for Hal Hunter. Is he being promoted from O Line to a higher position? Is he gone? I feel like Wylie is just one domino.

Hal Hunter was already dismissed.

That one slipped past me, thanks. That move was buried in all the defensive coaches, I missed it. What matters with a position coach is demanding attention, getting players to change bad habits. Aside from quarter ack, offensive line is the biggest learning curve from college to the pros. This is an underrated position coach job.

Browns offensive coaching staff taking shape.

Browns TE Coach Greg Seamon will be named the new QB Coach. Fun fact about Seamon - he was the offensive coordinator at University of the Pacific in 1985 and 1986. His quarterback those two years? Hue Jackson.

Browns Assistant OL Coach Mark Hutson will replace Seamon as the TE Coach. Hutson has experience coaching tight ends, having served in the role for the Raiders from 2012-2014, although that was not under Hue.

Per Mary Kay, Hue is going to take the current staff down to Mobile and then make a determination if he needs to replace Pep Hamilton as OC/PGC or not. Based on his comments though, it doesn't seem like he's really looking to hire someone new. Maybe Al Saunders gets a fresh title?

Possible remaining staff openings
Offensive Coordinator/Passing Game Coordinator
Assistant Offensive Line Coach
Assistant Linebackers

I'm hoping Saunders takes a larger role in the offense this year. He's one of the greatest OCs of all time. Hue should let him call plays so he can focus on clock management which he did a poor job at last year.

Al Saunders was a major cog behind two of the most entertaining offenses I ever witnessed, the 80s Chargers and the Kurt Warner Rams. The Browns are lucky to have him.

The Kurt Warner Rams, to this day, still have one of the greatest desciptions --

I have always LOVED that description!
