Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Also, Eminem's new album is awful.

Absolutely agree. And yet somehow, a simple #Revival search suggests otherwise, with so many people claiming it as "straight fire" and "one of Em's best albums."

What am I missing? Listened to it all the way through twice now and can barely bring myself to spin it a third time.

Start by stop comparing albums to albums. Eminem 17 years ago and Eminem right now better have entirely different points of view on life.

It's a really solid album.

Like @DJTJ mentioned it seems people are so enthralled with the subject matter that they forgot to pay attention to the delivery and sound.

Dude just sounds washed. Kind of like Dr Dre these days in that sense.

I'm not even really comparing albums to albums to be honest, @DJTJ. His delivery and flow just seems sloppy and lethargic and some of those beats literally made me stop and shake my head. A lot has to do with the fact that I've never been too high on Rubin and Eminem collabos, though. There are some decent records but for the most part, it isn't up my alley.

For me, some awful sample choices ("I Love Rock and Roll" and "Zombie" by The Cranberries - really?), mediocre and uninspiring production, surprisingly poor mixing and mastering and unnecessary chorus features that don't seem to contribute to each track as a feature should.

To be honest, had Em's previous body of work not existed (almost all of which I've been enamored with since the 90s), I wouldn't give this record the time of day.

Hope my opinion changes but we'll see.

I popped in this thread to voice the same complaints that Simmy has about the Revival album. I can't discredit Eminem's lyrical athleticism, but the production stymies that consistently. I might go into further detail after more listens, but I've been underwhelmed after a weekend.

This blew up a few days ago, but worth a post here:

I'd also recommend watching the video by "The Company Man" that argues that Black Thought can be the unsung GOAT of hip hop. He's certainly underrated if you ask this old time Roots fan.

New Tech N9ne album is actually legit as hell. Best stuff i've heard from him in like 10 years.

New Murs album super chill. Not amazing but not bad. First full listen as we speak.

About to checkout the Czarface/Doom record

That song is nice

Pretty good album, but nothing will ever come close to early Doom for me. Operation Doomsday. Vik Vaugn. & his stuff with MF Grimm.
