Alright, folks, it's time to kick this thing off. First, though, a couple of "rules", if you will:
  1. When you pick, post justification for your first round pick(s). Provide some detail in why you made the pick, post a picture, highlight videos, whatever. Just try to avoid putting a name down and moving on. This thread can be an education on prospects, which is good if you're an NFL fan.
  2. After you make a selection, please send a private message to the next person drafting, or tag them in your post so they know they're up to pick.
  3. Try to check back here on the daily if you know your pick is coming soon. Quicker picks means we go deeper into the 3rd round or longer.
  4. Trades MUST be reasonable. You can discuss trades with anyone whether or not they have indicated they'd be open to it.
  5. Since tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day, we're not going to skip anyone. Also, I'll be out of town for the weekend, so if you make a trade please PM me so I can keep track. I'll do my best to keep things updated.
With that said, let's go cucks!

With the 1st selection in the 2017 RCF Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns select:

MYLES GARRETT - EDGE RUSHER - TEXAS A&M

IMG_8054.jpg

vs. Tennessee 2016

vs. LSU 2016

vs. Auburn 2016

vs. Alabama 2016

Draft Profile (via PFF):

Name: Myles Garrett

School: Texas A&M

Position fit: Edge defender, either a 4-3 defensive end or a 3-4 outside linebacker

Stats to know: Finished in the top three among edge defenders in overall grade in all three years of college

What he does best:

  • Can win any way as a pass-rusher. Has the burst to challenge the edge and the power to put offensive tackles on skates
  • Also works the inside counter well, won to the inside just as much as he won to the outside
  • Even distribution of pass-rushing wins: 20 outside, 20 inside, 10 bull rush
  • Greatly improved his grade against pull blocks in the run game in 2016, play-by-play grading more than doubled in that area
  • Quick first step and agility allow him to disrupt in backfield
  • Has the athleticism to play both sides of the option mesh point
  • Nice job of working both sides of blocker on front side in zone game
  • Changes direction so easily
  • Played through injury for much of 2016 and was still disruptive in all phases
  • Room to continue to get stronger, something he’s done throughout college career and if he continues to progress, he’ll be even more dangerous in both phases.
Biggest concerns:

  • Can get caught upfield in run game
  • Doesn’t always see crack block coming
  • While much improved against the run, still has to prove it against NFL offensive linemen
  • May never be a great run defender
  • Has not had many opportunities to hold the point in the run game, more of a penetrator/disruptor
Bottom line: Garrett has the skills to be an elite pass-rusher at the next level as he can win a variety of ways and there’s still room to improve his power. As a run defender, he may never get to the level of a Von Miller or a Khalil Mack, but he can affect the quarterback and his improvement in the run game should have him playing at a reasonable level if used in the right capacity. Garrett’s on-field production combined with his athletic prowess has him positioned as the top pass-rusher and top overall player in the draft.

NFL Combine Results:
40: 4.64 (1.63 10-split)
Bench: 33 reps
Vertical: 41''
Broad: 10'8''

@The Oi is on the clock.

***** TRADE ALERT *****

Bengals receive: First round (#6 overall), Sheldon Richardson

Jets Receive: First round (#9 overall), Fourth Round (Compensatory Pick #138), AJ McCarron

Cincinnati gets a 26-year-old Pro Bowl DT and somehow moves up at the cost of a 4th rounder + AJ McCarron???

Jets got absolutely trounced in this deal.

Well... I mean we are the Jets still. :chuckle:

Also we take solace in knowing that a guy that didn't want to be here and has been a MAJOR locker room distraction/problem is on the way out before he hits free agency next off-season and we collect an additional pick plus a possible future QB in the process while only sliding down 3 spots? We'll take it and run.

The Texans select Mitch Trubisky, QB North Carolina (not calling him Mitchell)

Team needs a Quarterback after making a terrible mistake with Brock Osweiler. He's the best NFL ready QB in a draft which isn't particularly deep at QB. I'm not personally impressed with him, I just think he's the most realistic move for the Texans.

He has NFL size at 6'2 and 222 but does not have an NFL name.

He had the second smallest hands at the combine behind Davis Webb's 9 1/4" at 9 1/2" but a 4.67 40 yard dash. 3 cone and 20 yard shuttle were all in the top 2 or 3 of the class. Dual threat QB. Can throw from inside or outside of the pocket according to the below link. Never watched him play.

BREAKING: Mitchell Trubisky demands a trade from Houston as the inability to say his name catches up with them. He was quoted as asking, "is this a fan or a GM making the pick? Are we professionals, or are we Cleveland sports radio callers?"

Well, fuck him anyways.

Who's to say I didn't draft him for someone else?

What can I say, the Bengals have a hell of a GM :chuckle:.

After the deal with @Randolphkeys went south, @Triplethreat and the office were faced with some tough decisions to get a QB.

EDIT: @Soda -- would you mind putting this deal in the summary tracker if/when you find a little time? Just so passers-by can see how the Bengals ended up at #6 and Jets at #9.
