On The Clock: 2017 RCF NFL Mock Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I actually didn't end up with the guys I was targeting hence why I ended up going with Desmond King, I traded down still hoping to get certain guys and they all went off the board so I was like, eh, I'll draft a guy I like lol

Ill take my B for not addressing OL but if any GM in this draft came away with Trubisky, Engram, and Fournette, all without giving up future picks, they'd immediately receive a lifetime contract from their owner.

Who the hell is Randolph Kiper anywuh?

Happy Easter everyone. Thanks for all your work with the write-ups @Randolphkeys!

If I left off any teams I was supposed to include please let me know and I'll edit you in. We had 43 pages of picks and the random request for a grade sprinkled in... There's a good chance I missed requests if I didn't mention you at the end. Enjoy the celebration of spring equinox you pagan savages.

Well shit, how embarrasing is that!? I Probably would have been in the 'B' range, if I didn't have a mental lapse! I completely forgot I drafted Peterman and picked up Leidner. Welp, F-me a thousand times!

However, this is not the end for me, no way! I am gonna show this world a thing or two and continue my dreams of being an NFL GM!

You were looking at a tie with the Titans until you pulled a Chiefs with Brad Kaaya. You grab Qualls or one of the tackle prospects like Davenport there and it's a whole different discussion. Why not Peterman as a backup QB if you had to have one, who is from Florida and throws the best deep ball in the draft?

I've seen Kaaya play a lot down here. He looks a guy that could be a potential-starter down the road.

But the success rate lately of teams double-dipping on quarterbacks intrigues me. Guys that even look mediocre, but a flash of talent can pay dividends via trade later on. That's if we get a look at him later on down and feel he isn't the future.

If it makes you feel validated super-Sirgio, I thought you deserved an 'A'. And I'm the same guy who traded away his top two picks plus an all star wide receiver for an unproven, injury-ridden, pass rusher in a pass rusher-loaded draft. So my scrutiny certainly holds water.

Peterman's a weenie.

Buffalo Bills Draft Class
R1)#10: CB Marshon Lattimore, Ohio State
R2)#44: DT Caleb Brantley, Florida
R3)#75: TE Gerald Everett, South Alabama
R5)#155: WR Isaiah Ford, Virginia Tech
R5)#171: S Jadar Johnson, Clemson

Opening my playbook, I had my eye on V.Tech Qb Jerod Evans with my next pick. I saw no reason to reach on a project Qb in this draft, there's still several guys on the board you could rope into that category. Even Qb's in the early rounds shouldn't be sniffing the field early on in this draft.

TE Gerald Everett is my bang or bust guy. I needed to take a chance on a possible playmaker. He's either going to be the next Jordan Reed or a guy somebody else snags for their practice squad. His ability to get separation as a TE was worth the risk, especially since I skipped Mike Williams to take Lattimore in the first.

Speaking of CB Marshon Lattimore, fell into my lap, had to take him.

DT Caleb Brantley was a gift in the second round. He could have easily gone late first. I wasn't even watching him, but my board had blown up and I was about to reach. Very fortunate to have him slip.

Ford and Johnson, need/value guys. Probably just depth, but will have an opportunity to carve out a role.

My big miss, in my opinion was my inability to secure OT's. This was just not the draft for filling those holes and I saw no value there. My lack of assets really hurt my ability to maneuver in this area.

@Sly out of all the teams who didn't trade around, I liked your draft the most as a straightforward philosophy of on-clock, make-pick body of work. I had to reward a few "franchises" who traded themselves into the A range.

I'd also like to add on that I was asked to do this, and I was asked to do it sooner than later. I feel like the real draft grades will come when the actual NFL draft goes down. I'm just looking at sound draft philosophy per round.

For example, in our mock the Browns took some players who are all over the expert's draft boards. I had a hard time figuring out if the three draft sites who believe Hunt is distantly a lesser running back than McNichols are right, or the three sites who believe Hunt is a third rounder are right. I do know three starting Jaguars on the offensive line shouldn't be starting next August. The real draft grades come out in a week and a half, I guess.

Sheldon Richardson a "Pro Bowl DT" :chuckle:

He hasn't been on that level for 2 full years now.
