Open Discussion (Cavs + related issues)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I remember last year, the Cavs looking like complete ass even late in the year and wanting to break my TV. Refuse to get too emotional or worried about these games, if the playoffs come around and we still look like shit on defense then sound the alarm but until then, have to stay patient and trust that when Lebron ramps it up in the playoffs the rest of the team will follow.

Have to remember this is effectively a team with the wear and tear of a 3 peat, the effort just isn't going to be there vs some of these other teams who are gunning for us.

For DEN this was only their 2nd sellout of the season and they are fighting for the 8 seed, you better believe their players were going to come to play with serious intensity. What are we playing for? What does home court really mean to these guys? Arrogant or not we just have to keep the faith fellas.

Agreed.

Also, Love was again very weird. The guy just seems to have mental breakdowns. He gave zero effort on defense and you could tell he would miss a bunny in the following play.

Love was moving pretty gingerly out there. Hope it's something that goes away as he gains confidence and the knee gets stronger.

After listening to some postgame quotes, LeBron/Lue mentioned toughness several times.

Lack of toughness, tougher, butts kicked, gotta be better 1 on 1, tougher, tougher, toughness.

Then when Vardon asks LeBron what did he think of his own performance on defense, LeBron made sure to say he brings toughness. He/Lue is mad at somebody or multiple.

They're not calling anybody out, but obviously Kyrie isn't playing tough. Jameer had 9 ast, 0 turnovers. Weak ass defense, Kyrie couldn't record a steal, he's not pressuring the opposing point guards. Jameer's stats tell me he got what he wanted. Sure Kyrie can score 30, but if he's not defending with intensity/physicality then it's a wash. DRuss scored 41 too. Kyrie simply isn't making his opponents work hard. I'm shocked Jameer didn't commit a turnover, what kind of cupcake defense is Kyrie playing? And I love Kyrie, I back Kyrie, but when you're not in somebody's face, and making dudes work, then I can't back you.

Frye is another softy, he's been awful, dreadful, downright atrocious. He's only good when his offense is his defense.

Cavs have major issues and I do believe they can be cleaned up. But key words of tougher, better, physicality have to be incorporated for 48 minutes.

I'm sick of myself and others talk about flipping a goddamn switch come playoffs. Flip that son of a bitch now, get mad, be pissed, act like you want to win, act like you want the #1 seed.

LeBron, when you lead, they follow. You get mad at the world, they get mad at the world, you bring killer instinct, they'll bring it.

I say its time to burn that playoff energy they're saving.

That game was stupid..
It was angering me to see Denver just get easy baskets in the paint and hoist up three's at will..
The Cavs weren't even trying to play any defense.
Tired of seeing players come free under the rim for easy layups then seeing the defender jogging behind the cutter.
Talking about you Love..and TT.
TT looks like a shell of himself..he's getting out-hustled and dominated inside.
Lebron needs to stop worrying about replying to people who say crap in the media and just let that focus him on his play and his teammates who need to come out of the fog they're in.
This team has enough talent , (even if they don't have the chemistry at the moment) to simply hammer any team out of existence on the court and they don't realize it.

Definitely on board the TT rest train.

If the streak is so important, play five minutes and then say you have "knee soreness" or something.

Gotta wait until the playoffs I suppose. These guys look like a second round exit waiting to happen though.

I'll be happy to eat my words, but I'm predicting it takes them 6 games to beat the 1st round opponent, and depending on matchup may be completely out of it in the second round. No way they're sweeping any team this year. Again, happy to eat my words, but I just don't see the fire from any player on this team.

Real Deal, that was a lot but I will bite. Nobody really had a good game defensively. You can preach toughness but if you're not connected as a team (TEAM defense) then it doesn't matter. Your defense has to be on a string if your teammate gets picked then your entire defense has to rotate. For us, this leads to wide open 3's for the opponent. We're bottom 5 in defending the 3 and in this era, it's usually the difference between winning and losing.

TT has struggled this year in pick and roll defense as he NEVER stepped up to help Bron when he got picked defending Barton or Chandler which lead to open 3's (Chandler had 18 points and Barton had 20). Maybe it's Bron's fault for not fighting over similar to Kyrie?

JR was LOST ALL game, don't see people complaining about this but it's true. Kyrie was getting us points, sure Nelson had 9 assists but he was 1-6 and scored 3 points. Kyrie has to help the other guys get points because they're useless if Bron isn't GOAT level assisting.

People think we turned it on in the playoffs but Pistons scored the ball at around 50% rate. We got to the line and hit more 3's (while they missed their wide open 3's). It was a tough sweep that that more than anything helped prepare us for the Hawks.

At some point "burning some playoff energy" will be needed in the regular season. NBA post game talk is always funny to me. If you missed shots that night it happens it's a make or miss league but to question each other's toughness is eyebrow raising worthy

Welcome my boy. Welcome to my signature.

You're going to look quite foolish in a few months!

I think they do realize it and that's why they aren't playing hard.

As far as TT goes he did look terrible last game but I would be interested to know how many pain killers the guy was on from his teeth.
I think they called Sanders up because they are realizing TT at more than 30 minute a game loses what makes him special. His tenacity and engine.

I still miss him coming off the bench and wrecking opposing. Centers. But I know that's not a reality now.

Can someone please tell me why the NBA backloaded this team with 5 back to backs in 5 consecutive weeks to end the season? Are there any other teams that are going thru the same type of scheduling.

how about going on a long road trip and playing a home game back-end of a B2B the day you get back??

Br∞tal

Can you spell S-C-H-E-D-U-L-E L-O-S-S. I'd take the Wizards no matter how many pts you need to give up....
