Open Discussion (Cavs + related issues)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't think door is slammed on 3 seed just yet.... If Cavs beat Knicks next 2. Then you have Philly with a back to back ending with Bucks. I still think Philly drops 1 of those. Cavs just had a back to back let's see how Philly does with theirs. Don't we get tie breaker on them?

Looking at the big picture and yesterdays NBA winners and losers I was trying to figure what might happen going forward.
Yesterday the Wizards who we barely beat got beat by the Hawks.
Celtics beat the eh Bulls, still no great surprise as Boston been beating everyone no matter how beat up they are. Knicks crush the Heat who we always seem to lose to. And let me see, we play the Knicks twice next week and we're waiting in NY to play them now, team is partying down in NY just cus they got time to kill, wouldn't want to work on our skills would we? Then come Monday when that unknown Knicks guy who scored 30 yesterday then dumps 40 on us, Lue will say something stupid again.
Maybe I'm reading too much into this huh?

The West 1st Round would be absolutely brutal!

With Curry out, Warriors looking vulnerable. IF they get knocked out in 1st round, HOLY SHIT!

The one team that I have said all season scares me the most in the East, and we get them in the 1st round. Awesome....

We matchup so bad vs the Pacers. They haven't just beaten us three times this year. They annihilated us three times. LeBron is going to have to average 35, 10, 10 from out of the gate. Could easily see a 7 game series in the first round.

Pretty sure Bron wants the 4 seed. He wants Toronto as early as possible and will whip on whoever comes from the other side of the bracket. Let Philly, Washington and milwaukee beat up on one another. Each of those teams have something that poses a threat, but they will all rip one another apart getting to the ECF.

We do - we are 2-2 against them, but we are 2 games ahead against Eastern teams - 34-16 vs. 32-18. Our paltry .500 record against the West helps us here. :)

This link breaks down scenarios fairly well:

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...76ers-jump-cavs-for-no-3-as-east-takes-shape/

Basically, there odds are about 89% that Philly will be 3rd from their simulations, with us at 11%, but I don't know how much these "10000 simulations" things account for things like Philly having a back-to-back against Milwaukee. 538, which has its own issues IMHO, predicts that we'll both be 51-31 and the Cavs win the tiebreaker there.

We'll disregard very long-shot scenarios like the Cavs finishing #5.

The cbssports link completely omits realistic possibilities that affect the overall playoff picture, like that the Celtics might rest everyone being locked into #2 - which would affect where the Wizards finish and, of course, our Nets pick.

I think you need to look at the scores again from those games. The only big loss was the first one which was the 5th game of the season. The other two we lost by 4 and 2. The last we won by 7. All games before the trade deadline.

The two losses by 4 and 2 were the most similar lineups to what we are using now minus the new guys.

I think the most important part will be having guys that can defend Oladipo and Collison this time around. Hill if healthy will be able to stay with Oladipo which we had problems with before. Calderon, JR, or Cedi should be able to take on Collison.

Also, the 2-point loss among those mid-season games, as well as being during peak ITpocalypse as you alluded to, we were at a back-to-back disadvantage and blew an enormous lead.

I'm more bothered by Miami - I'm not convinced we can even hold serve at home against Wade.

Hopefully the bucks have something to play for that game. I can see the cavs getting the third seed. I’d prefer the 3rd but won’t cry with the 4th. I’d love to see the raps and wiz matchup in the first round.

Agree, WAS has already shown they are a difficult matchup for TOR in the past few years. Even if things are different, albeit with many of the same players, that road sweep a few years ago was pretty awful.

Just going off what I remember. I watch all games, and I remember the Pacers going on like 20-5, 14-2, runs etc. How much is it just regular season hooplah? Who's to say. But we had pretty much no answer for them this season, and Myles Turner didn't even play 3 of the 4 games. All games were prior to our trades, so there is that, but considering our defense still sucks, it is going to be one high scoring series imo. But then again we are pretty much MVP LeBron or bust vs anyone at this point.

Not worried about Pacers. I'd rather face them than Miami, Wash, or Mil in the first round.

I would absolutely rather face Indiana than Miami or Washington. The only thing I hate is having to face Toronto in the Eastern Conference Semi's instead of the ECF.. That could be beneficial if we actually show up but based on our "defense" the last two games it's hard for me to go into the playoffs optimistic.
