Love this. Was trending out of OSU's favor in the media all week until today.

Just wanted to add a little more info to Fields situation.

He has hired the same lawyer that helped Shea Patterson become immediately eligible. Lawyer has a long history with NCAA and routinely wins his cases.

In regards to Fields, he is looking for immediate relief from UGA due to racism he alleges he has faced in famous, specifically the UGA baseball team. He wants an immediate transfer because of the circumstances.

Working against his favor is that his sister is going to enroll at UGA to play for their softball team this year, and Fields waited until after regular season to make his transfer intentions known.

That said, I don’t think the NCAA wants this smoke. Racism in collegiate sports is a storyline they’d prefer steering clear of. Most think Fields will be immediately eligible.

I know no one here cares, but Purdue just had a top 25 recruiting class. Considering Brohm's coaching ability, that forecasts very well for the future of my Boilermaker program.

I know, and I also know that OSU fans are mad at my Boilers. It was weird, I wanted to win, but I rather have beat any other team and gotten to a bowl game than knocking OSU out of the playoffs as we did. As both an Ohio born person and a Big Ten fan, I rather see OSU make the playoffs.

I’m wondering what the timetable is. IIRC Patterson didn’t get cleared till summer. Not knowing till then might make things with Martell dicey.

Yeah but it’s really shaping up that is he is going to apply for hardship transfer, I think “it’s happening.”

“Georgia quarterback Justin Fields is reportedly interested in transferring to Ohio State for the 2019 season, sources told ESPN's Mark Schlabach on Wednesday.

The freshman and No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2018 is continuing to explore his options after a report Monday stated he intends to transfer.

"I think he's looking at his options," head coach Kirby Smart said. "Let me say this about Justin: Justin is competing extremely hard. He's in the meeting rooms; he's rolling and going with the twos. His information to us is he's looking at his options, which is what you do. You go into the (NCAA transfer) portal, which we all know he's in. That's the extent of it, and that's the conversation we've had."


Fields is expected to apply for a hardship waiver, which would grant him eligibility to play elsewhere next season. He's continuing to practice with the Bulldogs and is likely to serve as backup to Jake Fromm in the Sugar Bowl against Texas on Jan. 1.

There could be an opening at quarterback for the Buckeyes as Dwayne Haskins, a finalist for the 2018 Heisman Trophy, is expected to enter the 2019 NFL Draft.

Fields completed 27 of 39 passes for 328 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions over limited usage in 12 games this season.”
 
I know next to nothing about Fields. Is he more of a thrower like Haskins/Cardale or more like a JT where his legs are his biggest strength?

Sounds like he is willing to transfer to Ohio State if Haskins leaves. My guess he wants to play right now, Day actually said something like that in his presser today as a general thing about QBs. Fields probably sees the opening to beat Tate and join a top 5 program.

Will he be able to apply for the hardship waiver before actually transferring?

I know it’s going to sound like a fanboy.

But he’s a combination of both.

His running is more developed right now. But the arm talent and big time throw ability is absolutely there.
