Perception of Dolans vs Attendance

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I mean, team went to game 7 and they needed a marquee free agent to have more season ticket plans?

What has been Indians fan excuse all this time? Dolan this, Dolan that, cheap, cheap, cheap, well now nothing can be said, it's simply shut up and show up.

It's full 81 game packages he's talking about. Does not account for the 6 game packs and surge in individual games that will occur once those go on sale.
6 game packs have conviently sold out now

Pretty sure that happened before the EE signing and there wil be a new batch of those available in the next month

It's been "shut up and show up" time for a few years now...

The "Dolanz r cheep" excuse should have died the moment they spent 100 million on Swisher and Bourn.

Nothing earth shattering to say Cleveland sports fans have been terrible in supporting the Indians the last decade.

The World Series run was already going to bring back a large chunk of new fans, this will probably add on to it as well...but people should have started coming back in 2013 IMO.

Well, it's still 24 hours. What happens in a week? A month? 2 months? The number will continue to rise.
Wait until after Christmas spending, raises, etc. Not to mention it was 100 packages. Those could be 2 seats, then could be corporate packages at 15+. Not to mention I'd bet we had a pretty good spike since & during our run.

He takes shots at Indians fans attending whenever he could. All season and even recently.
I'm not getting into this. But most of the time I agree with him.

He's always right and never wrong.

But I like messing with the guy just like he's snarky to others on this board.

Well bimbo it helps that we signed arguably the best free agent hitter out there, that title alone will make headlines, I'll be going to a few Christmas parties and I can only imagine the topic of Tribe/EE. This isnt Swisher and Bourn level. We exceeded expectations all around.

I admit it, I'll be disgusted if we don't have bigger crowds. Dolan's also deserve some fan love.

Radio Air-waves provided just that.

It's going to be one hell of a season.

How does the name outweight the actual money when the argument/excuse is "the Dolan's are cheap"...

100+ million > 60 million, is it not?

If the excuse was "the Indians never have/acquire big names" then that aspect of your argument against the cheap Dolan's would make sense...but don't give me the bullshit that the Dolan's are cheap excuse just died with the Encarnacion signing...like I said, if that was the whole complaint, it would have died when they ponied up 100+ million and hired one of the biggest name managers in baseball all in one offseason.

My mindset will never accept that "the Dolan's are cheap" was a legit excuse and reason why our crowds have sucked the last ~5 seasons.

Not a quarter of general Indians fan (one a year, don't care about baseball until playoffs type) knew EE until the playoffs, and probably haven't put two and two together.

I heard casual fans want to come to games here now. EE is popular in the sport and many fans are die hard of him. If anything he will put buts in the seat way more than anything we seen before. However that will not make number Pop like some may think. I drooling to go see them because wait for it... They have a great almost perfect product and are entertaining to watch. Money does not grown on trees for me so I have to pick who I watch when I can and it sucks.

Now on to the Dolans who and why the web is such a harmful tool and why people take everyone and their word so freaking serious is where I am coming from when I say this. Dolans are more so were not amazing owners but not the worst by far. I found more fault in the past FO then I do the Dolans. Shapiro while great with trades never really liked to make moves in FA even if he had a green light. The situation in Toronto right now shows that and how he likes to build teams. When we got Francona I knew things were turning around and that might have been where I was shocked. The Dolan hate should have ended there.

Also the thing is what the Indians have done and some is still on Shaps watch is amazing when you think about it. We can not buy our way to the top and to add EE on the contract we did and convincing him to be here and be a winner says a lot. That is why I loved the Nap signing last year, They first tried it out with the Giambi year to see how it would play out. Fast forward to now where this is the most exciting player the Indians ever landed. They got the best hitter in the class and to some the top FA. Bottom line we have a great farm, top MLB pitching and hitting now. This is how you build winning teams I love this FO right now and the ownerships approval.

Get over your hate of the Dolans as I feel they finally figured out how to make it work. It was they never cared it was they did not get it right. They did now and to be honest based on the product and adding EE there is no way any Cleveland sports fan should not and if they have the money not go to the games. I will go with out food for a few days to see this team now once if I have to. I live much more close as well and thank god because now is the best time to see this team. I think Cleveland is becoming a big market slowly so yeah Dolans and partners might be willing to be a little more open about spending money on this team. Sorry for this long post but I learned a lot about how this sport works and man if you view this from top to bottom, This team is loaded everywhere right now.

If this doesn't draw in way more fans then the team may as well move. (I say that in the sense the FO has gotten high grades from me the last few seasons) and now the move they made is an A+ and the offseason grade is an A (aka it falls to an A since they cannot get the veteran LH reliever I wanted, but bringing in young talent to compete makes up for that)

Looking at this roster in December they already have 23 out of the 25 roster spots pretty much finalized. I mean guys like Almonte, Gonzalez still have to go out and keep their jobs with a good spring and we need to see a healthy Brantley, but it is rare to see a legit team finalized in December. We have essentially 8 guys at the moment fighting for the last two bullpen spots and three of them do not have options Adams, Escobar and the Rule 5 draft Milner. Now it's possible to keep Milner we would just have to make a deal with Phillies to keep him in Cleveland

This thread is hard to track but i would like to throw my input into it.

I live in Baltimore. Every year i see the tribe when they come here.

Every year i go to Cleveland to see the cavs play. Its only about a 70 min drive to go see the cavs play either the wizards or the sixers. But i want to go to Cleveland to bring money to the cavs directly/money to the city.

For the first time in years i want to travel to Cleveland to see the indians play. To me the world series team was a 75% push, the signing of EE, that was the final 25 %. Its just something that brings a bit more extra excitement. You can argue it/try to reason it all you want but thats what i feel.

I refuse to believe im the only one thst feels thst way. My opinion is your going to see a lot more butts in those seats this year.
