PG options in the 2015 draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Backup to LeBron is not coming from the 24th pick. That'll likely come via a Haywood trade or the taxpayers MLE or some other trade.

With Delly's play this post season, I actually think it makes it slightly more likely the Cavs draft a PG. The rookie would come in as the third stringer with no pressure, and it wouldn't be a slap in the face of Delly, as signing a vet PG might be viewed as. The team arguably could use another PG regardless of how well Delly is playing.

My guess would be the Cavs will end up trading the pick anyway. I think Griffin will target a veteran, likely someone to back up LeBron, and will give up the pick to get him.

Delon Wright is my guy.

Could play with or without Kyrie at the 1 or 2. Big PG. High BBIQ.

Can do things other than score (rebound, steals, anticipation, vision, defends, assists)

Can become a great perimeter defender.

Shot mechanics aren't terrible. He can learn to shoot threes at a higher clip.

Lock this shit up. Delly is God.

Even if Delly stays as the backup, we need a 3rd. Kyrie is injury prone, and we are one minor Kyrie injury from having zero backup pg for 20-30 games.

I still see pg as our primary need in the draft followed by center then back up sf. (although free agency and a re-signed James Jones could fill the backup sf just fine)

Looks like the talent has started moving up the boards. Harder for the Cavs to get the really good guys now.

#14 - Cameron Payne 6'2"
#18 - Tyus Jones - 6'1"
#20 - Jerian Grant - 6'5"
#22 - Delon Wright - 6'5"
#29 - Terry Rozier 6'2"

(Returning ) Kris Dunn - 6'3"

I hope Grant or Wright fall. Still think a 3rd pg for this team is of huge importance for depth.

Grant workout. Holy crap he looks impressive. Reminds me a little of Reggie Jackson. I'm all for a backup SF, but I would love the Cavs to create that dynamic PG back court line up that many teams can go to now days. Did not know his jumper was this automatic. I'd move up 2-4 spots to get this guy if we had the chance.

Hopefully I'm not just an ND homer, but I absolutely loved Grant these past several years. I think he definitely has a place in the NBA as a very solid rotation guy. And there's zero doubts that character & basketball IQ are strengths as well.

Delly fell back to earth hard.

He missed his shots, but his defense was a huge reason why we won the game.

I agree though that we need a third option at point guard, I'm just not sure we have to get that in first round.

I actually think we're in a pretty good spot to just go best player available since we have depth needs at point guard, wing, and center. No real need to panic.

I do agree, but your point leads me to believe a Haywood trade needs to be lined up before the draft. The Cavaliers need to fill out their rotation with that trade chip and the pick. This 8 man rotation is too tight for the final four teams.

I think that's ultimately where we end up, especially if we are targeting a guy in his mid-twenties. Better to get a guy that's closer to helping us at this point, and it will probably take that first to get a team to give him up.

I'm worried he is kind of a chuck in the dion waiters mold. No offense to you or not trying to knock your scouting eye, but I watched a lot of louisville(have a family member goin there) and he can change a game in the same way dion could. Both good and bad.
Louisville did not have anyone who could score from the outside besides Terry. He is unbelievably quick, can pass the ball, is an incredible rebounder for a guard, and will get up and down the court with the best of them. He always has had to score on his teams, but he can run the point. I agree with an earlier post that said he would be a steal. His game is much more suited to the NBA. He needs some coaching on the finer points of the game, but you can't go wrong drafting good young men with great talent.

No joke, since I wrote that I have watched a few of his highlights and I think he would be an excellent fit now, I am just weary(along with many others I believe) to draft another undersized combo guard :chuckle:
