Potential destinations for Ramon Sessions

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ramon Sessions value is going up, up, and away!

I hope we suck the life out of the Lakers and nab both 2012 first-round picks from them somehow. I'd be willing to take on a bad contract to do that, too.

And I wish I was a pretty ballerina, dancing on the moon.

I wonder if people would be able stomach Sessions for Luke Walton plus the Lakers first rounder. We would be taking on Walton 5.7 million deal for next year so that would eat up some capspace but it's only for a year. I think because the Lakers not only don't take any salay on but actually save some money they would seriously consider this type of deal but not something using Odom's trade exception

My personal favorite deal is Darius Morris, Luke Walton and a 1st for Ramon Sessions + a big of their choice...

I really like Darius Morris coming back with a 1st round pick... It gives us a decent point guard on a cheap contract...

So here's the thing. The GM's have six days to figure out if they are going to try to win it this year, or just take their chances. There are teams that are getting late in the window that are fading. The lakers are right in the middle, and have a couple of years with Kobe. Boston is at the end of the run. Atlanta is also fading too soon. A decision to contend means you make a move, and those are the teams we get to dance with. Just looking at the standings, the Lakers seem to have the most to gain. They need points and they need a point guard. Ramon fits both ways, so I think they are the most likely to make a move. While I think Jamison is a good fit for Boston, I am not sure how they pull it off. We could do J. O'Niel, but where is the draft pick gonna be from? Maybe we get their 2013 first, because they are likely to be a rebuilding team at that point.

According to Hoopsworld (yeah I know) the Cavs do not want to take any players back for Ramon:

Sessions Out In Cleveland?: The word is the Cleveland Cavaliers are ready to trade Ramon Sessions.

This one was somewhat obvious considering Sessions has an opt-out in his deal and has made no secret that he’ll use it this summer to try and land a better deal.

The Cavs were holding on to Ramon in part as insurance for rookie guard Kyrie Irving, but given that the Cavs are now 14-23 on the season and 4 games out of the playoff picture, the writing is on the wall. The Cavs have lost seven of their last ten games and 11 of their last 17 and seem ready to take care of business.

Sources close to the situation say the Cavs are not looking for much in return for Sessions and would rather have a draft pick and a roster spot than a cap filler type player.

The Lakers are considered the front runner for Sessions, although the Lakers still have their eye on a bigger fish like Orlando’s Dwight Howard or Boston’s Rajon Rondo – although both are extreme longshots.

Once it becomes clear that the major piece the Lakers are targeting cannot be obtained, moving on a Sessions deal seems likely, unless someone else swoops in with a better offer for the Cavs which is always possible in the march to the deadline.

Having an extra roster spot would be beneficial for many reasons. One is because we wouldn't be taking on any additional salary in return. Another is because we could use that roster spot to take on more players in other trades. Another is our total salary would actually be lower not only in the off season, but right now, meaning we would be more able to take on salary in trades and more easily be able to fit into trades with other teams. In order to not take back any players, I don't see how we could do it other than by the Lakers using part of their TPE or a TPE is created through the trade somehow. Would that mean we have a TPE of 4-5 million to use?

When push comes to shove and Howard doesn't go to LA, the Lakers would probably take that deal too, and then we could turn around and possibly make more trades.

Good post. I'm probably in the minority here, but not only do I think the Magic hang onto Dwight but also he re-signs with them this off-season.

This is the first time I feel like we have something that is actually coveted by other teams in a while. I hope everyone waiting for Dwight to be traded doesn't screw everything up.

The fact that the Lakers pulled the Odom deal and then refused the TWolves Beasley deal means they don't want to pay ANY additional salary.

I would want both picks then..one for Sessions and one for taking Waltons contract. And we can even throw in Parker--he can play some SF minutes for them--he wouldn't be bad as a defender, three point shooter off the bench--he would get tons of open looks there...

The Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks are two teams rumored to have interest in Sessions. The Minnesota Timberwolves, fighting for a Western Conference playoff spot, might also be calling the Cavaliers after the season-ending knee injury to point guard Ricky Rubio.

Only speculation but... Think Minnesota would want Ramon back now that Rubio is out for the year? I'm sure they wanna make the playoffs, and obviously he has improved since they traded him for Delonte..

Perhaps Ramon for Wes Johnson and a 2nd round pick?

Feel like Ramon to the Lakers is the best bet... It's been the only consistant one, and the Lakers obviously need him.
