And there was still nothing stopping Paterno from firing him.

Like was he afraid that if he fired Sandusky that Sandusky was going to tell the press it was because he got caught molesting kids? Fuck no. Just fire him on a down year or ban him from the school sooner or I know...REPORT THE WHOLE FUCKING THING. Make a hero of yourself.

You think the general Happy Valley public would have demonize Paterno if he'd have busted out Sandusky for this? Shit no...he'd have been an even bigger hero than he already was.

Clearly Paterno was the second biggest piece of shit of them all.

I think, one thing people kind of overlook, is he was ushered out in 1999, amid whispers about him being a child molester. I truly believe, at that point, PSU thought they were rid of any further damage since he was no longer employed.

One of the shittiest things about the case that bothers me, was even with the rumors, he still brought kids to PSU games and practices up until the mid 2000's.

Sandusky wasn't even indicted until 2009, when the attorney general finally took up a case that had happened in 2004. He was officially charged in 2011. It was at that point, that all the whispers around the program became full-blown shouts of anger. Once McQueary's testimony was released after 3 years of investigations (2009-2011), it became obvious to most that Paterno knew of the sexual abuse.

Today's documents that became unsealed, just further cement Paterno as a piece of shit, but shows the culture within the PSU program all the way back to 1976. A program willing to turn a blind-eye to a child rapist in an effort to build a legacy. It's fairly obvious the entire coaching staff knew of Sandusky's behavior, and it almost became a "that crazy Uncle Jerry is at it again" type mind-set which is sick. I think guys on the bottom of the totem pole would just report what they had seen (in some cases to Paterno, in other cases to other coaches), but nobody would step in and actually bring in the police.

Some people have claimed that Paterno, who was catholic, had a mind-set similar to the Catholic Church in regards to their priests. Just basically turn a blind-eye to the perversion, and rack it up to deviant behavior that he'd hope would go away or stop. But not something he felt he needed or wanted to get in the middle of. Like telling your buddy he's drinking way too much lately, or is being a bad husband away from the house. A lot of the behavior exhibited by PSU is very similar to the Catholic church in terms of people being aware, but not reporting it in fear of bringing the whole house down.

And "thank god" (lol) the whole house was finally brought down on both.

As a sidenote, I'm very proud to say that my wife- who was a devout Catholic- left the Catholic church immediately after we watched the movie Spotlight which we did immediately after the reports came out about the coverups in the local diocese here in western PA.

The reports came midweek a few months ago and surrounding a bunch of piece of shit priests that her family members knew personally. She said she wanted to watch Spotlight afterwards, which I then figured which was out of pure curiosity. In retrospect I think she needed something to make her angry enough to leave.

She went to church on Sunday to see what the father would say and came home to say it was a bunch of bullshit without a single apology. She made the same comparison to PSU.

She hasn't been back to the Catholic church since, while her family continues to go. I find it very hypocritical. I'm agnostic and I have nothing against faith, but I'm just completely disgusted with what's gone on with the Catholic religion worldwide with these coverups.

And I'm disgusted that her family continues to support the Catholic church given the information that's been provided to them, particularly when people that they know personally have been affected by it. But that's none of my business...I guess.

Anyways, back to the subject at hand.

If you're that worried about your career, send out some anonymous letters to the press and the cops and see if something happens. Anyone who knew what was going on and did nothing about it should be considered just as guilty as Sandusky himself.
