Watched Sully...Tom Hanks was great in it. It was an engrossing watch...quick and to the point...It seemed to go by so quickly that i was shocked when Clint Eastwood was listed as director at the end...must've forgotten since it's original release date....one of his shortest running times as a director.

The only thing that irked me was that it vilified the aerial insurance company that assessed the water landing a bit too much. I know that they conducted an investigation immediately after the crash but i don't recall it needing a Tom Hanks-y monologue to free Captain Sully of any wrongdoing.

Still worth a watch, IMO. The plane crash (landing? water landing?) scene was tense, especially considering i was just traveling over Xmas. The court stuff that played out was executed well, regardless of it was "done up" a bit to make for a more watchable film.

To date, Tom Hanks has survived Vietnam, a mission-to-the-moon gone haywire, The Cold War, being stranded on a deserted island for years, Somali pirate hostage crisis, a plane crash, and being cast as Robert Langdon in the unwatchable Da Vinci code trilogy. Is there anything this man can't do?

He exposed murderous neighbors, had a relationship that actually grew stronger from a severe real-estate blunder that drained their bank account, had sex with people/things he never should have in the first place, and banged Meg Ryan several times.

Don't forget his foray with an isolated indigenous island native population.

He also owned some fantastic luggage.

Was the first to have Benjamin Button disease and coached girls baseball while drunk.

Didn't he also live in the bathroom of an airport without catching anything? That's a miracle in itself.

Chappie: 6/10.

I love/hate Blomkamp. Dude knows how to create completely believable sci-fi worlds with amazing visuals, but then throws terrible stories on top of them, just like Elysium. I thought it was supposed to be a sort of action movie, but quarter of the way through I decided to view it as a comedy and it made it better. Hugh Jackman's character is basically a cartoon villain dressed like he's ready to go out on a safari at any second.

No Country For Old Men: 7.5/10

I watched this movie with high expectations due to all of the praise it has received, but I finished it a little underwhelmed. It held my interest, but it's not like I would go around raving about how amazing it is or anything.

To each their own, I suppose. No Country is a top 10 favorite for me.

I think the character development, plot and action was tremendous. I may actually have to watch it again now.

Hidden Figures - 6.5/10

It's a pretty typical "based on a true story" historical piece. But lots of Math, which obviously made it better.

Passengers - 5/10

Nothing about the movie was good. Nothing was particularly bad, either. Just a pretty boring plot in a cool setting with decent acting.

Mannn, Anton Chigurh is one of the greatest villains in the history of film. Youtube montages of just his scenes alone are 8/10.

Quiz Show 8.5/10

About the true story of the quiz show cheating scandal in the 1950s.

I figured any performance by John Turturro is worth watching. Any performance by Hank Azaria is usually worth watching too. And Ralph Fiennes is a great actor too.

I was not disappointed.

Hank Azaria was nothing like his usual comedic character actor role. He was a network suit villain.

John Turturro was the stereotypical nebbishy New York jew Herbie Stemple and he was very believable. His performance was really strong...a far cry from pederast "the Jesus." :chuckle:

Ralph Fiennes as golden boy turned tragic figure Charles Van Doren was also very strong as expected.

There were a lot of appearances by "that guy" type people. The actors you've seen in other movies with faces you recognize but names you can't place.

Very good movie. Good netflix gap filler for one night when you're bored.

That all may be true, but it was too dark/depressing more me to actually enjoy or appreciate.
