Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't like musicals and don't care much for piano or jazz. I can't see myself liking La La Land even with all the rave reviews.

I would actually consider Jazz as a form of torture, the wife wanted to see the movie, convinced her to see Rouge one, where is the pat on the back emojy?

That's what's called a Jedi mind trick.

Both were very good for me. :conf (11):

La La Land - 9.5/10

I will say that this is a jazz musical romantic dramedy. If that isn't your genre, then stay the hell away from this movie.

That said, this is my favorite 2016 release that didn't have Darth Vader in it. Cinematography and sets were awesome. Emma Stone is my current pick for best actress. I will grant the characters were not terribly dynamic, but Stone and Gosling worked really well together.

The informant is really good.. don't know why it's never really been talked about

So that still qualifies it for the title of best video game movie yet made, right? :chuckle:
This is an old post but you should check out the dead or Alive movie. It is probably the Best interpretation of a game to a movie there's been. It's still hilariously bad but it is joyously faithful to the source material.

The Founder (7.5/10) - Fascinating back story behind the dreamer and schemer that was Ray Kroc. Great job by Michael Keaton (I'm a fan). Wonder if some will boycott McDonalds because of this movie :chuckle:. Worth price of admission IMO.

Oscar nominations come out Tuesday morning at 5:00.A few years ago, the Academy implemented a new system where between 5 and 10 movies are nominated. Here are my predictions for best picture. I think the first 8 are locks and will be the only nominees. Then there are a few wild cards that could sneak in. In no particular order:

Locks
Manchester by the Sea
LaLa Land
Moonlinght
Hidden Figures
Lion
Hell or High Water
Arrival
Hacksaw Ridge

Possibilities
Fences
Silence
Nocturnal Animals

Speaking of which...

Super Size Me: 7/10

I was intrigued and it was available. The premise was a little ridiculous. Nobody was setting out to eat McDonald's for EVERY meal or even more than one meal a day at that time...or were they?

I think this movie helped to shake up the fast food industry a fair bit and for that reason I think it was very effective. It was slightly pandering, but overall interesting as Morgan Spurlock is somewhat of an entertaining guy.

I'd give it a 7, just because I felt the premise was so ridiculous in that nobody would be eating THAT much fast food but again...maybe some people were at that time and his extreme weight gain and exposure of the nutrition facts behind the counter might have served to alert some people to just how horrible that food is.

If you watch Super Size me, you better watch the movie Fat Head and get the real story.

Just read up on it and I will check it out.

I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle of the two movies given that people who eat fast food regularly don't eat either of what these two guys are eating when they eat fast food ie massive quantities of fast food all the time like Spurlock or the healthiest foods off the menu like Naughton.

I miss the beef-tallow fried fries McDonalds used to have. So good.
