Can I get a non-spoiler Black Panther review/rating? I’m pretty indifferent on the whole superhero things, but heard it doesn’t really portray as a simple “this is a superhero movie” like, say, a Thor movie.

Black Panther- 7/10

Positives
Very solid action flick. Visually impressive. An origin story that has a lot of meat. A villain with a flawed but understandable cause, plus unlike other marvel villains who are just stupid, he atleast is better.

Negatives
Running time is a bit too long, can easily be shortened by 20 mins. End gets predictable.

I give BP an 8/10. I still think Creed is his best triumph as a director. There were gorgeous visuals in BP to be sure, but the action scenes struck me as pretty conventional as superhero movies go. In comparison, in Creed he was able to inject this kinetic energy into the boxing matches with these long one take shots that made you feel like you were in the ring with them.

The drama, acting, direction and performance in Creed is soooo much better that when we take that movie and compare it with BP I find it hard to give it a good score.

Agreed. I have a lot of issues with what I saw in BP versus the way critics have covered it. The biggest one is that the plot was a typical cookie cutter superhero movie plot for me. It's funny because Creed's plot was a direct homage to Rocky, but he was able to inject enough characterization to make it totally unique.

Still, it's a very solid, well made movie and if anyone is interested then you definitely should watch it.

Hostiles. 9/10. Gory cowboys and indians movie with good acting. Very nice change of pace movie. Unreal that I know people that saw BP....another superhero movie....before this.

It's funny, I have them reversed... I think BP was, by far, the better movie -- much better than Creed.

I really didn’t like Creed... will probably see BP this weekend.

The movie was really something else, wasn't it?

Just .. an all around astounding film in it's own right.

In a word, it was black. On may levels too. It was deep, intellectual, spirited, action packed, thoughtful, remorseful, aggressive, creative,. It was flat out just excellent.

I almost shed a thug tear in the theater. The one me and my wife went to had at least 50 people there dressed up and putting on. The atmosphere was crazy. people of all ages and backgrounds there to watch something special.

There was so many parts of the movie that felt like it was talking directly to me on a personal level. It was crazy seeing things that I have thought or dreamed about actually getting run on the big screen for everybody to see. This is a very powerful and impactful movie.

Agree on all counts, especially about the movie speaking directly to me...

Was just insane to watch a MARVEL movie that was so deep and impactful on so many levels...

This was honestly not just a great Marvel film, but, one of my favorite movies of all time.

Definitely a 10/10... This movie could have nothing to do with Marvel, the MCU, it wouldn't (and didn't) matter one iota.

I am currently talking myself into getting my 6th grade locker combination tatted on the inside of my lip :chuckle:

Is this mostly due to the way it handled race relations, or am I oversimplifying things?

How the hell do you remember that?

I have a very good memory. I can remember really specific details in things like old locker combos, jersey numbers that friends war 20 years ago. I still remember the birthdays from like 15 of the 25 people in my 6th grade class.
