I really want him to buddy up with Joey Hoops and make him a killer

The guy I've seen spreading this around on twitter is the same dummy who said two weeks ago the Cavs had a deal in place for Dwight Howard, whereby Houston was going to trade Howard in a 3 way deal and get back only Joel Embiid, while the Sixers would get only Waiters and a pick. And he talked this shit up for a while and then, instead of saying he messed up, used the old "the deal is now off" line.

FearTheSword reported it as done and now twitter is blowing up with people think it's a done deal.

Mixed reports everywhere. Seems the early reports of him signing were premature.

Is this the dreaded premature E-proclamations that haunt so many young men in this digital age?

Chad Zumock is a "comedian" and I wouldn't take his word over anyone that posts on this board. I'm not saying he's wrong here, but this is the same thing people (connected and otherwise) have been saying since July. He offered nothing new with this.

We could use his silky stroke as a guaranteed foil to our drives, but do we need another minus defender?

Curious to see how it shakes out since we basically already have a couple of defensively challenged spot up shooters that blatt has not given minutes to.

Rumor: Ray Allen leaning toward retirement, not return
The question is does Allen have interest in them? ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, a guy well sourced in Miami and Cleveland, was on ESPN1540 radio in Cleveland and said Allen may choose not to choose.
This option was always on the table for him, people around the NBA just never thought he’d choose it. But I had heard as far back as last summer that when LeBron left the Heat Allen was hesitant to follow and leave his family and life in Miami to chase a ring in a cold-weather climate. Now Cleveland is far from a sure thing in the East (I’d say their defensive issues leave them third or fourth in the conference) and while there are teams in the West Allen could help that playoff run will be a bloodbath for everyone (you can make a good case for seven teams at least to come out of that conference and make the Finals).

CLEVELAND -- While the principal reason LeBron James visited Miami during his recent two-week rest period was to seek out warmer weather while he rehabbed strains to his left knee and lower back, he also had another item on his agenda.

During James' Miami jaunt, the four-time MVP met with free agent guard and former Miami Heat teammate Ray Allen in order to try and appeal to the league's all-time leader in 3-pointers again about joining the Cavs this season, multiple sources told ESPN.com.

LeBron James met with former Heat teammate Ray Allen in Miami during his recent two-week recovery to try and appeal to Allen about joining the Cavs this season, sources say.
Allen hasn't played since his 18th season ended with a Finals loss for the Heat to the San Antonio Spurs in June.

ESPN Radio's Ryen Russillo reported last month that Allen's message to teams inquiring for his services earlier in the season was to check back with him in January and he would make his decision to return or not -- and which team to choose if he did opt for season No. 19 -- in February.

Apart from James' face-to-face meeting with Allen, several other members of the Cavs have kept in contact with the shooting guard this season -- James Jones and Mike Miller, who were also Allen's teammates in Miami, as well as associate head coach Tyronn Lue, who was an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics when Allen played there.

Allen also vacationed with Jones and James this summer when they all visited the Bahamas together along with their families.

The 39-year-old hinted this week that a return could be in the cards, telling the Sun-Sentinel, "At my age, I need to stay in shape," when asked about a potential comeback.

The Cavs have 14 players on their roster with one slot open should they choose to sign Allen.

Coming into Wednesday, Cleveland was tied for 17th in 3-point field goal percentage (.347) and 11th in 3-pointers made per game (8.3). They shot 5-for-24 (20.8 percent) from 3 in their 106-92 win over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday.

Allen played 73 games for the Heat in the regular season and all 20 postseason games last season. He averaged 9.3 points per game on 41 percent shooting in the playoffs.

Not sure we need him, but here's an update at least.

Eh. We already have Miller, Jones, and Harris as spot up shooters that get zero PT. Not to mention Smith and Shump who will likely be taking the bulk of minutes at the 2. Thats 5 guys fighting for minutes at the 2. If he is looking for 26 minutes like he got in miami its not happening here. I say search out another Center or defensive PG and let allen walk.
