Remember when Sportscoach said he was really good at fantasy? lollololollolol

His Standard team is doing all right. I just don't think he had any grasp of how a dynasty league worked, as the team he drafted was basically a redraft team with zero long-term upside. That's fine in redraft, but it leaves you fucked in short order in dynasty, especially if injuries derail your inaugural season.

In my pay dynasty league, my team was ravaged by injuries in year one last year and I finished worst in the league as a result, but it didn't really leave me in bad shape at the end of the year because my entire team was young.

Just to give you an idea, if my team were at full health right now with no one injured or on bye, my starter ages are:
Aaron Rodgers - 33
Melvin Gordon - 24
David Johnson - 25
DeAndre Hopkins - 25
Keenan Allen - 25
Adam Thielen - 27
Evan Engram - 23
Jake Elliot - 22
Landon Collins - 23
DeForest Buckner - 23
Zach Brown - 28

The problem sportscoach ran into is that he has so little margin for error because all of his starters are over thirty, whereas a team like mine above has potentially another five years with the same roster, provided no one washes out of the league. And on my bench I've got guys like Corey Davis (22), Duke Johnson (24), JuJu Smith-Schuster (20!), Jordan Matthews (25), Austin Hooper (22), Josh Doctson (24), etc., along with older veterans like DeSean Jackson, Doug Martin, and Delanie Walker (who would probably be my starting TE if Engram hadn't found his way into a massive target volume due to injuries).

I did a lot of dealing over the summer and early weeks of the season to try to add some guys to my bench that could give me points if I needed them, and that has definitely paid off, as it's something I largely didn't have last year.

Sportscoach, on the other hand, is running a team mostly full of starters 30 and over and largely lacks upside guys on his bench. He has a lot of good IDP players, but his skill positions are mostly on the back ends of their careers.

And he moved all of his first round picks for players like Andy Dalton.......

His team is going to be awful for YEARS

I've got 4.5 starting QBs right now:

- Alex Smith
- Tyrod Taylor
- Jacoby Brissett
- Jimmy G
- Geno Smith

Come get 'em if you're eligible to trade.

Are we doing a taxi squad for next year? How is the off season going to work?

Probably going to skip a taxi squad, simply because Fleaflicker doesn't inherently support one and policing it personally to make sure no one scams the system would likely be a lot of extra work for me that I don't really feel like doing in a free league.

As for the offseason, teams can make trades and what not, but other than that not much will happen until the draft. There will be a cut day, and at that point rosters will be locked until the draft. You can keep up to 35 players, but keep in mind that, if you have more than five draft picks, you won't be able to use them all if you have a full 35 keepers. I will expand the roster size to 40 for the draft, which facilitates that five round draft (35 keepers plus five draft picks). If you have more than five picks and would like to use them all (Fleaflicker will automatically eliminate your later picks if they are redundant), you'll need to make cuts accordingly. Waivers will be locked once the keeper deadline passes, and all cut players will be put into the draft pool along with all incoming rookies. I believe trades can still be made after the keeper deadline, though.

During the offseason, we can vote on any new rules or rule changes as well. Once the rookie draft happens, and that will probably be in June or July, rules for the 2018 season will be locked in, so any changes must be voted on prior to that.

I think we need to 1) increase the IR list, 2)have a rookie squad or else the 4th and 5th round picks are essentially worthless

Eh...I think part of dynasty is having to occasionally make difficult roster decisions and cut guys you may not want to cut. We already have 38 roster spots if you include the three IR, and I think that's more than enough since we don't waste roster spots on kickers or team defenses.

If you want to keep all five of your rookies, you'll need to find other players to cut, and you'll have between the draft and the start of the season to do so. I'll probably set the final cut date (when rosters drop from 40 to 35 to prepare for the start of the season) the weekend before the first Thursday night game, which should allow all cut players to pass through waivers before the first game of the season.

At any rate, you should try being in my money league. We only have 30 roster spots and it's an IDP league (three starters) with a starting kicker and only two IR spots. So I have to waste one of my 32 spots on a kicker and have to roster at least three IDP players, and usually more like five or six. I constantly have to make incredibly difficult decisions in that league, more so than I've ever had to do in this league. We also can only keep 23 out of 30 players at the keeper deadline.

By the way, one rule I'd like to change is making the secondary tie-breaker Points For (or PPG...same thing) rather than Division Ranking. I'd honestly be fine with removing divisions altogether, but we will put it to a vote if others are interested.

Top tie-breaker would still be head-to-head record, as I think that's appropriate. If you beat someone, you should own a tie-breaker on them. Points per game seems like a better secondary tie-breaker, though, as it rewards the better team rather than who plays in a weaker division.

No divisions sounds good. No reason at all a team should get in with a 6-7 record over a 7-6 record just because they were randomly slotted into different divisions.

Yup, no issues with removing divisions.
