RCF Hoops Vets League 2015-16

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
About the 3 moves per week. IMO that puts a league back into "streaming mode", which we had been early on when most of us were the young guns.

As most of us are in the 40 hr work world now, I'd urge you to think long and hard about if you want to be getting up at 3AM server reset to make roster moves. 2 moves per week limits time investment required per week by relying on the built-in rolling waiver system, whereas 3 becomes more about who jumps on a guy by hitting F5 as many times as possible at 12:00 PST.

I personally am done with that noise.

If there's overwhelming support for 3 I can switch it on a re-trial basis for this season, but I know how it goes from having been in many other leagues. Think on it and LMK.

Definitely like the IR spot. But, I vote to keep the 2 moves/week. I also like Sunday night better, but either is ok with me.

AB-SO-FREAKIN-LUTELY! It's been a long time coming...I didn't believe it until I looked under the roster settings, so they must've just updated it. I'll convert the 4th Utility spot to IR, so we're still at 14 roster spots per team.

EDIT- Meant Utility, not bench. Changed.

Wait, doesn't that defeat the purpose of the IR spot?

If we originally had 14 roster spots, isn't IR spot supposed to act as a conditional 15th spot? So we would draft and keep our normal 14 active, but once a player becomes IR eligible, you move them to the IR spot and that frees up your 14th spot again until you reactivate the injured player?

If you remove a bench spot and replace it with IR, then we all actually only ever have 13 active players.

Doesn't matter to me, I have no problem with 15 deep. Just know that the difference between who has shored up with mock drafts and who hasn't gets reeeally obvious that deep. It gets down to "Should I take Marvin Williams...or a ham sandwich?"

Changed. I think the IR will take some getting used to no matter what.

I do like the 14 active spots because you only have to pick & choose who's going to play Wed & Fri occasionally (rather than usually).

True, although 14 players plus an IL player isn't really 15 deep though, right? You'd still only draft 14. The 15th player only comes into effect when you have an injured player (who's spot you'd then fill with a FA), and then once you pull that player back out of IL, you have to drop someone first which brings you back to 14. So you'd never have more than 14 players available to you on any given night.

Unless I'm missing something?

True on the only 14 being active, but tbh I don't know the logistics of it yet. Like, does it go by the red "injured" symbol (almost certainly- but they are slow to update those IMO), and when you're "IR eligible" to pick up the 15th guy, will it go by your waiver wire position? (also almost certainly).

I'm already wondering how exploitable this is.

There's a whole page about it.

You can't put a guy on the IL until he is on the Official NBA Injured List, which it sound like is when Yahoo adds the red "INJ" symbol. And at that point, once you move the guy to your IL spot, all it does is create an empty roster spot in your 14 man roster. So at that point, you'd just acquire a player like you would any time, whether that be a free agent pickup, waiver claim, or trade. It doesn't sound like there is much to exploit.

The only that sounded "exploitable" to any degree is that once a player is no longer injured, you can technically leave him in that IL spot, but you are restricted from making any other roster moves whatsoever until you re-activate him. Which doesn't sound bad to me.

But I'd just look at that link. It explains it all there.

Changes sound great. I love injured players so much my last two first round picks have been Durant and Rose. Let me tell you how those worked out...

Any draft time works for me, I'll make it work.

This league is f*cking awesome and I can't wait.

1, possibly 2 spots are open due to other time committments (Czvosec, waiting to hear back from Karma).

Sent Spydy an invite for Czvosec's spot, have a short list if needed to fill last spot.

Sent Pip one (the place just hasn't been the same without ya), sent customary one to Glen but he'll say no as he is on to bigger and better things :chuckle:

Other than that, 14 of 16 are returning so well done there.

If anyone else wants to throw their hat in the ring, no harm, worst we can say is we're full up.

There are a few people that have asked a lot in years past and were really hoping to get in. I'd take a look at the early posts in last years thread, and in the other, non-official RCF league threads.

Also, any off chance you guys would be willing to move the draft fifteen minutes up to 10pm instead of 9:45? If not its cool, but I'm gonna be cutting it really close to get back at 9:45.

I am good to go. Was stoked to have the opportunity to leave the office early to concentrate on something important. Hope my spot is still there.

Karma good to have you back, mate.

I actually do have a running list from like the last 5 or so years but most of those I haven't seen on the boards recently.
