Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm happy we won of course, but boy were we lucky on that last goal line stand. If Samuel doesn't turn the wrong way, it's a touchdown. If Cam throws a better ball to Wright, it's a touchdown. Two significant ifs, but I'm hard pressed to credit the defense on those.

We would have had time to come back and score, there was something like 3 minutes left. Remember there as another Carolina possession that actually ended the game with an interception. We were stuck at the 2 and got tight with the play calling which is understandable. But if they score, we are at the 25, and only have to go 50 yards or so in 3 minutes to win the game.

this is what he showed at OU so well, was pressure didnt impact his play at all I suspect that a lot of teams are going to pick up on that next year, and stop sending blitzes at him. I think Baker is just as dangerous when he has time, but those numbers under pressure are extremely impressive

Darnold had the pre-draft reputation of being the best at throwing on the move, but damn....Baker's ability to throw the ball accurately 20-30 yards down the field while on the move is just ridiculous. And he can not only do it accurately and with power, but his release is so damn fast.

What a night and day improvement he's shown under pressure with the new coaching staff. Turns out maybe you shouldn't dial up 5 step drops in the face of all out blitzes!

Saw this on Twitter

In Mayfield's time under Haley and Jackson, his passer rating was just 78.9, good for 27th out of 32 quarterbacks ranked. Since Kitchens' arrival, over the last five weeks, he has jumped his rating to 114.4, which ranks him fourth in the NFL.

Remember the time when Hue said Baker wasn't progressing? These stooges shouod never be hired in the NFL again, but leave it to a friend to hire Hue.

Here’s another stat.
Since week 9 we have allowed 4 QB hits. The next team has allowed 19 hits.

Freddie kitchens 4 HC

I don’t care if he just started calling plays. He’s done it as well as anyone. He’s the right man for the job.

There are a lot of guys who were very good coordinators who just weren't very good HC's. Maybe he is good enough for that job, but I don't think we're really in a position to know that. Dorsey has so much of a better read on that than we do that it isn't funny.

One of the main reason if not the main reason I am on the Arians train.

Just as much as Baker has the "It" factor, Kitchens has the "It" factor as an OC. If we don't give him the job next year, he will star for another team. No way is Kitchens ready to go from QB coach to head coach in a year, but if Arians wants to come in and coach for 4 years and hand the reigns over to Kitchens after he mentors him, I am all in for that.

There’s no way kitchens is still around in 4 years. Baker is going to put up crazy numbers and someone will offer him a HC job.

So the comment that I love which was cut off at the end.

"I wouldn't be surprised in three years, if that division is theirs (Browns)"

I almost don't care about making the playoffs this year, I see the potential of this team. Keep Kitchens, hire Arians, and 2-3 years, we are perennial playoff team.

Let that sink in, that has happened since the 80's. Not make one playoff one year, but end of the year when they are talking Browns, they are talking what the Browns need to do to get home field advantage through the playoffs, not just make the playoffs.

Guys, this is our future. Get excited.
