Well, if it makes you feel better, Splitz. I did a college prep program called Excel TECC in high school which kinda gave me the ability to get accepted with my potential for doing flash (I had a crazy flash portfolio: photoshop, illustrator, tablets, movies, etc.). It was a great experience after another that got me there (since I was 5 years old?). I'm not sure if I'll get back there, but I'm working on it.
In fact, I'm just taking a leave of absence because R.I.T. kinda broke me down a little. I may go back. I may not. I'd like to go back, but don't know if my parents can afford now they are permanent residents in Florida. Finishing up assignments, working on classes, moved into a different program (from New Media Design to New Media Interactive Development = art/design ---> programming/art).
Anybody could probably build up their portfolio to a high level, work on interviews into schools, and get in if lucky. Just got a little lucky, that's all...
And Max, yeah. I got the sense you were kidding. But I like explaining myself anyways...

I'm in Electrical and Computer Engineering.. designing sensors using electromagnetics and magnetostrictive materials...

Hm. I'm listening. What college did you go to, enlighten me. I'm not even close to graduating, but R.I.T. has got to be the goddamn biggest challenge that I've went through. I have a lot of respect for that college.
Sure, it's a technical college, but I'm in the media portion of it. They aren't easy anymore than the college you went to. But I did the artist side even though I'm more of a math and programming guy. I'm a little of both on the inside, if you haven't noticed.
But what about you, where do you work? What actual software/hardware is the sensors used for? Everything? Even video game systems that sense where the Wii remotes go (upside down and all)?
All of this is up to how comfortable you are saying anything. I have absolute respect for that college, so an insult I don't take lightly to. Trust me on this. It's one of the tops in the Design School in the world. I'm just lucky I managed to get in, but I want to graduate from there. That's where I feel the bread and butter takes the best.

I go to Carnegie Mellon University. I'm currently working on the sensors, so I can't really talk about it because of patenting, publishing problems if I did. I can tell you they don't go in Wii remotes.
How could you say that "they aren't easy anymore than the college you went to" when you didn't even know the college I go to? ..Right.
To be honest, I don't pay any attention to Design/Drama/Art/etc. I could care less about it. I don't care if that offends you. If you want me to change that opinion, don't make an Avatar that looks like a middle-schooler could have made it while saying you go to a top Design School in the world. No I will not make an Avatar that is better than yours. I don't care enough to, and I don't have the time to.
