Resting Guys = Heavy fines?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Let's get something straight right now. The majority of people saying they can't just miss a day of work for rest are flat out lying. They earn sick time and paid vacation, and they fucking use it. Get real.

Second of all, if you're struggling so much that you actually can't miss a single day of work ever just so you can feed your kids......maybe you shouldn't be buying a 100$ ticket to a basketball game?

Or maybe you want to be able to escape your shit job for a couple hours with your family? Damn. Not everyone has jobs where they accumulate sick time. Everyone definitely doesn't have jobs that give them paid vacation.

If you're an hourly employee and you don't get paid vacation or paid sick days, you're losing 8 hours (or more) for everyday you miss. When I first moved to Chicago in 2012, I was working a full-time job at $13/hr with no PTO. When you consider the cost of living in Chicago, I legitimately couldn't afford to take days off. It still blows my mind that people manage to support kids and a family on less.

Read what I said.

I said the majority of people. Obviously not everyone. Are you going to argue that? That the majority of people who pay to go to NBA games are not nearly broke workers that can't take a day off?

You know what's not true? That "99 percent" of people can't afford to take a day off for rest because they have to feed their kids. Bull. Shit.

And, again, if you're struggling to feed your family and you go and spend a couple hundred bucks for NBA tickets, you're an idiot.

But hell, let's talk about the people who actually can't afford to miss a day. What does that have to do with others who can? Because you can't, no one else should? What kind of nonsense is that? I'm sorry your situation in life isn't where you want it to be, but that doesn't mean everyone else is required to fit their lives around your rough schedule.

You bought the ticket with absolutely no guarantee at all that certain players would be playing. Own that decision and quit whining.

To be fair @Rich said the "majority" of people..not everyone. Of course some people legitimately can't afford not to work. But are those really the people shelling out money to see the Cavs play live? Maybe some are, but there's a lot of exaggerating too (not saying you are - just in general).

This whole idea that I Can't Miss a Day so No One Else Should Either is sickening, honestly.

Stop buying tickets if you're worried about people not playing. But please, please stop insisting that no one else is allowed to have a life better than yours.

I don’t see how this refutes his larger point.

If someone is struggling that bad financially, there are probably much better ways to use that dispensable money or a day off then blowing a couple hundred on going to see an NBA game.

No such thing as a life that's better than yours
No such thing as a life that's better than yours
No such thing as a life that's better than yours
No such thing, no such thing

But in all seriousness people need to look at the schedule and see when the back-to-back's are before purchasing a ticket. I think we all are going to know that the big 3 will rest Friday and play Saturday.

You are ridiculous and lying to yourself. Basketball players have time off, vacation days, off-season days, days with no practices ALREADY. Games are obligatory to be played, as their fans are expecting them to be by paying for tickets to see them play. It's how the game was built, by basketball players playing the fucking game. Not multimillionaire divas thinking they deserve to take games off-- well i guess that is what it has become right.

Nice to know how much you care about people who struggle in life. That they don't deserve to go to a basketball game or treat themselves ever. Kind of twat are you.

I'll go ahead and quote James Harden for you- "It's not about my rest ... it's about the leadership that I show to my teammates and this entire organization and my fans," Harden told reporters at Tuesday's practice. "I'm blessed. I'm 27 years old and I'm able to play basketball at a high level. It won't be here for long, so I take advantage of the opportunity while I'm here and I just have fun doing something that I love."

Now that isn't some "get off my yard" old NBA player, giving it to you straight.

James Harden's comments were going for the low hanging fruit. It's easy for him to say that when he's still in the early part of his prime and gunning for his first MVP. Let's see if he doesn't rest a couple games down the stretch when the Rockets have their playoff seeding locked up. Better yet, let's see how many games he's resting when he has the kind of mileage LeBron has in his career.

Or the mileage Kyrie has at the very old age of 24? After KI rode LBJ's coat-tail to a championship?

He was fucking injured.

Maybe watch a game or two, including the finals apparently, why don't ya?

Much to do about nothing.... I'll be sure to bump this thread on 6/1/17 and see if it's still a pressing issue?

Heard some comments from Pop yesterday about how it is an issue that needs addressed and maybe teams should start sitting players at home games instead?

Fuck that. Pop seems to think that if it's a home game, all of those fans must be at every (or most) home game(s) so they can afford to miss a game here or there by their own teams stars.

He is out of touch thinking that. Going to an NBA game isn't cheap. And furthermore for someone like me in Cbus, I have to go to Saturday day/night games almost exclusively and there isn't much to pick from. Maybe a half dozen dates per season at most. This is my team that I follow and dump time energy and money into. I as a Cavs fan going to a home game absolutely deserve consideration over random fans in random cities. I quite frankly expect the team I follow to be loyal to their home fan base above all else and, if given a choice, always choose to rest our guys on the road.

I wanted to buy tickets for this Saturday against Washington. But now I'm worried that they will sit out LBJ and/or Kyrie since its the second night of back-to-back.

So don't buy em.

And if enough just stop buying them, and the NBA takes a big enough financial hit, then maybe both sides (players and owners) will be ready to seriously compromise on some sort of solution, that, as of right now, isn't possible because they have no incentive.
