RIP Craig Sager

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This stings. Stu and now Craig, two of my faves. Did a lot of Patron with Craig in the Platinum Lounge at the Q. RIP my friend.

Shit, that's the only story you got? Feel free to give us more pal.

With all due respect, Cleveland happened to win their title this year.

We have been saying for years that hell would freeze over or that it was a sign of the apocalypse if the Cavs Won...

Some stuff coming out about Craig unfortunately. Apparently married a gold digger, cut his family off, didn’t include his kids in his will even after his son donated bone marrow twice.

Hope some of this stuff is inaccurate or it really sours my opinion on him.

Sounds like cancer came at a very turbulent time for that family.

Actually worked with someone that knew Sager's first wife and was privy to some (or all, she never revealed just how much she knew) of the drama from Sager's initial marriage. I never really asked because it wasn't my business, but she was adamant that Sager was a sleazebag asshole.

Never really shared, because, well, who gives a shit.

Goddamn does that sound like one of those wicked lifetime movies where the gold digging women is super controlling and offers her body for her controlling way of life.

Damn, man. That fucking sucks. Your beloved father dies and here he betrayed you. Tough to live with.

Cognitive dissonance in the highest order. The man is dead and his wife is the one being crucified for the world to see. Some of the stuff she did was awful (daughter claims she poisoned him against them and allegedly wouldn't them see their father and banned in relatives from the older Sager's side to attend the funeral) but their father whom they loved courted Stacy for a while he was still married to their mom and chose to leave them out of his will. The whole thing is entirely uncomfortable and drags a dead man's business out into the open for no reason after all of the goodwill he'd built publicly from his impact as a sports broadcaster . Absolutely nobody wins from things like this but it's good business for TMZ

You have a compelling argument but I really think great people have hurt a lot of people in the past and it goes ignored and the issues for the people they've effected are never resolved. I've come to terms with heroes not exclusively acting heroic (we're as much human as we are hero). It does help give a better representation whichever person in question is being criticized. It doesn't outweigh the good they've done.

I think accepting these truths could have a beneficial consequence in the long run.. People will be less vilified in the future for fucking up and it won't be as easy to write off everything positive someone is doing by leaking out some of someones character flaws.

Craig and everyone else is human. We're all flawed characters. Maybe he did some shady shit, I don't know. I don't know any of the story and I doubt many know both sides. It doesn't negate everything positive he did.

So this is a preemptive move by Stacy to prevent them from taking action later by contesting the contents of the will? Damn this is getting ugly.

You made some excellent points David. I'm not necessarily saying that cognitive dissonance is terrible, I think it's perfectly human. It's the process of forgiveness in dealing with this dissonance that can either be helpful or harmful. It's the root of all of our societal problems and sadly speaks volumes to the political tipping point this country now faces with extreme tribalism. Some struggle to admit those flaws often explaining them away while burying others who hold the same flaws. They perhaps never had an honest dialog with their father and held his wife Stacy in contempt for seducing their father away from their mother. Having their father and themselves to accept the truth (his infidelity) and deal with the consequence might have had a more desirable result in the long run like you stated.

That's a terrible thing to do what Sager did. It's bad enough this man cheated on his wife and ripped his family apart, he doubles down and leaves his kids out of the will. This guy had the means to take care of all parties through trusts, but what he did is a shame and shows the character of this man. It would've been different if he donated his estate to charity or for cancer research;that would've been more easier to take for his kids. But you know they have to feel like 2 cents by the actions of their father. Just terrible on all fronts.
